Job Summary Job Description Overview The DPD Accreditation Specialist reports to the Supervisor - DPD Accreditation and Compliance and assists with the collection of accreditation proofs, analyzes for completion, and submits them for approval to the Accreditation Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws
  • Knowledge of the principles and best practices of public safety agency operations.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of department-level business operations.
  • Undergo training by Texas Police Chiefs Association Foundation, to include file management and all requirements of accreditation.
  • Ability to implement administrative policies and procedures.
  • Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Ability to organize, plan activities and train agency members.
  • Ability to speak informatively to public groups.
  • Ability to analyze facts and to exercise sound judgement in arriving at conclusions and recommendations.
  • Ability to make decisions based upon experience, giving attention to details.
  • Ability to read and understand a wide range of technical material.
  • Ability to complete assignments in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to deal tactfully, professionally, and effectively with others.
  • Associate's degree in any field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in accreditation, law enforcement/public safety administration, policy preparation/development, or business management
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Must pass an intensive background investigation and drug test
  • No FELONY or Class A MISDEMEANOR convictions.
  • No Class B MISDEMEANOR convictions within the last ten (10) years
  • No family violence convictions
  • Cannot currently be on deferred adjudication for any FELONY, Class A, or Class B MISDEMEANOR

Responsibilities

  • Supports the development, review, and revision of regulations and procedures as they relate to accreditation.
  • Prepares reports for accreditation and compliance.
  • Utilizes assigned strategies to meet all accreditation deadlines.
  • Compiles proofs of compliance for the accreditation process.
  • Maintains accreditation files to ensure compliance and re-accreditation.
  • Prepares the department for on-site accreditation assessments and site visits.
  • Researches information and compile data as needed.
  • Participates in special projects and programs requested by departmental management.
  • Assists with any assignments as directed by the Accreditation Supervisor.
