Generates dose distributions accurately and calculates computerized isodose plans for the patient as prescribed by a radiation oncologist and directed by a medical physicist.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following: Radiation Therapy, Radiation Science, or Radiography and graduation from a Medical Dosimetry Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited program of at least 12 months.
  • Will consider new grads or non-certified with two years' experience as a medical dosimetrist.
  • Current Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) consider new grads.
  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist or obtaining certification within three years of hiring is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of radiation, anatomy, normal tissue contouring, medical imaging fusion, and cross-sectional anatomy is required.

Responsibilities

  • Computes radiation dose distributions
  • Generates isodose curves
  • Documents in the radiation oncology electronic record effectively
  • May provide direction or assistance with challenging simulation setups or custom treatment devices
  • Consults with and works as a part of a radiation oncology team to deliver individualized treatment
  • Must be able to perform dosimetry procedures with the department's treatment planning computers and protocols
