Summary Produces radiation treatment plans and performs dose calculations under the supervision of the Chief Physicist as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Participates in the overall treatment planning process including simulation, planning, verification, and treatment. Supports the technical staff in problem solving with radiation therapy procedures and assists with special procedures as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree Radiation Therapy or equivalent.
  • or Technical School Diploma Certificate in Radiation Therapy or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of treatment planning principles acquired through advanced learning of dosimetric theory by independent study and continuing education.
  • Knowledge of radiation therapy procedures and patient care techniques.
  • Analytical ability to resolve problems that involve the use of basic scientific, mathematical, and technical principles.
  • CMD - Certified Medical Dosimetrist - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Develops optimal radiation treatment plans following established procedures in collaboration with physicians, physicists, and other colleagues.
  • Prepares plan for treatment in the record and verifies system, with appropriate communication, to ensure treatment delivered as intended.
  • Submits treatment planning charges within the appropriate timeframe according to established billing guidelines.
  • Provides advice and guidance for simulation and treatment procedures, as needed, to achieve optimal patient radiation treatments.
  • Performs the fabrication of patient-specific treatment devices as needed.
