About The Position

Position Summary: The Donor Relations Specialist will support the development and strategic initiatives efforts to play a vital role in managing relationships with donors, ensuring contributions are recognized and valued, and facilitating various fundraising activities and will partner closely with the finance team to facilitate efficient giving, effective reporting, and accurate records.

Requirements

  • Required Education: Bachelor’s degree. Equivalent experience would be considered.
  • Required Experience 1+ years of experience in donor relations, fundraising, or nonprofit organizations.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient with database management and reporting tools, specifically Veracross or similar systems.

Responsibilities

  • Stewardship & Relationship Building - 60%
  • Receipting for all gifts including year-end giving letters.
  • Write personalized gratitude messages for donors, ensuring appreciation is communicated with a personal touch.
  • Manage fulfillment of giving level and sponsorship benefits, including invitations, ticketing, and necessary materials for events.
  • Track and execute stewardship activities, coordinating with Marketing & Communications (MarCom) for materials, and working with the Event Team organizing annual relationship-building initiatives.
  • Recognize key events in the lives of community members with a personal touch, i.e. marriages, births, deaths, etc.
  • Assist in donor, sponsor, and network events by supporting the event planner's logistical needs, including invitations, replies, and recording event attendance as activity in Veracross.
  • Reporting & Analysis - 10%
  • Collaborate with the MarCom team to gather, review and proofread reporting materials, providing necessary data as required.
  • Create mailing lists for MarCom activities involving Development initiatives.
  • Maintain sponsor and NLA business community network mailing lists.
  • Generate reports on giving trends and statistics during key times of the year, including quarterly updates and Development Committee meetings, and assist in the creation of publications.
  • Donation Management - 5%
  • Create and send statements for scheduled donations and sponsorships.
  • Track donor pledges and commitments as well as following up on unfulfilled pledges.
  • Follow through on spending donor funding, collaborating with finance to acquire account numbers, communicating with budget owners regarding project funding status, and reporting when completed.
  • Community Sponsorship Support - 20%
  • Act as point of contact for current sponsors to update their information and send communications as needed.
  • Distribute marketing materials, newsletters, and collateral related to revenue initiatives and investor-related events.
  • Maintain and update the InFocus Community Page with business highlights and upcoming event postings.
  • Coordinate community sponsorship benefits.
  • Ensure timely communication with MarCom regarding sponsorship package benefits and assist in onboarding new members.
  • Miscellaneous - 5%
  • Coordinate and execute specific development activities to engage students in fundraising.
  • Submit invoices to accounts payable for development-related expenses.
  • Guide volunteer inquiries to appropriate leaders.
