About The Position

The Donor Relations Coordinator provides essential support to the development team for a comprehensive, best-practice donor relations program. The Donor Relations Coordinator prioritizes cultivation, growth, retention, recognition, and stewardship of donors and prospects, at all levels, to foster their ongoing engagement and satisfaction. This role supports the fundraising and engagement efforts by coordinating the donor events, communications, acknowledgments/recognition, and stewardship activities. The Donor Relations Coordinator supports the donor lifecycle management that drives donor cultivation to solicitation by coordinating portfolio management activities, maintaining accurate donor data, documenting interactions, tracking progress, and ensuring timely next steps. Requirements

  • Education and/or experience requirements: Bachelor's degree in a related field OR Associate degree in a related field + 1 year of applicable work experience OR High school diploma/GED + 2 years of applicable work experience. Applicable experience includes any paid or unpaid experience in fundraising, donor relations, or development operations, preferably within behavioral health, education, or nonprofit settings.
  • 2+ years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or development operations beyond the minimum education/experience requirement.
  • Must reside in California.
  • Familiarity with donor management software and moves management processes.
  • Understanding of fundraising and donor engagement strategy.
  • Event coordination experience.
  • Experience working with donors or in a customer-facing environment.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with development team leadership to create and implement a robust donor relations program with multiple points of engagement such as thank-you letters, impact reports, recognition updates, and personalized donor communications.
  • Partner with the Vice President of Development, development directors, and annual fund director to implement stewardship and donor engagement activities that continually prioritize donor cultivation, retention, growth, engagement, and satisfaction efforts.
  • Assist in organizing small donor-focused events, tours, briefings, or virtual meetups to strengthen relationships.
  • Generate donor reports and mailing lists for appeals, recognition, and events.
  • Maintain stewardship calendars to ensure timely touchpoints, follow-ups, and acknowledgments.
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables for donor materials.
  • Maintain accurate recordkeeping of stewardship and recognition preferences, donor communication history, and commitments.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to donors, responding promptly to inquiries and requests.
  • Assist in developing creative cultivation and stewardship opportunities for donors and prospects.
  • Support portfolio management through data reviews, prospect assignments, and strategy discussions.
  • Ensure donor stages, strategies, and next steps are documented accurately and consistently.
  • Track moves management outreach and donor engagement activity using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools, ensuring accurate records and timely responses.
  • Prepare donor briefings, profiles, and background materials for donor meetings and events.
  • Support the development and execution of customized stewardship plans for high-priority donors.
  • Generate regular pipeline reports, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for leadership.
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies for donor retention and engagement, which may involve researching potential donors and preparing donor profiles.
  • Support the development and refinement of moves management policies and best practices.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior at all times in accordance with Seneca's mission and philosophy.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or agency leadership.

  • Actual salary is dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role
