About The Position

The Donor & Events Associate (Temporary) will report to the Director of Individual Giving and support Henry Street Settlement’s Special Events and Individual Giving team. This role provides logistical, operational, and administrative support for donor relations initiatives and special events, including the Gala Preview at Independent on May 14, 2026. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This position requires strong communication skills, discretion, and a high level of professionalism when working with donors and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising or individual giving, preferably within a cultural or human services organization
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact with donors, community members, and VIPs with discretion and tact
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Commitment to and interest in New York City’s human services and cultural sectors
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of donor information
  • Ability to work both onsite and remotely as scheduled
  • Ability to walk up three+ flights of stairs

Responsibilities

  • Generate and distribute weekly reports of online donations (GoFundMe Pro/Classy)
  • Prepare and customize donor acknowledgment letters using mail merge
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donor and prospective interactions
  • Assist with donor communications and mailings, including the Annual Report
  • Track event solicitations, RSVPs, and registrations for donors and ticket purchasers
  • Support planning and preparation for special events, including assembling event materials
  • Provide administrative and operational support leading up to and during the Gala Preview event
  • Update and maintain donor records in Raiser’s Edge, ensuring accuracy of contact information and donor listings
  • Research and update returned or outdated donor addresses
  • Manage purchase orders and track supply inventory in collaboration with the Purchasing Department
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Development team
