About The Position

Riceland Foods is looking for a Domestic Transportation Manager. The Domestic Transportation Manager is responsible for the daily execution and supervision of domestic transportation activities across rail, over-the-road (OTR), Intermodal, LTL, and freight audit and pay. This role leads a small team of hourly transportation clerks and serves as the primary operational point of contact with the company’s managed transportation service. The position is execution-focused and accountable for ensuring established transportation workflows are followed consistently, issues are addressed in real time, and freight moves as planned. While core processes and roles are already defined, the manager is expected to identify practical improvements that enhance reliability, workload balance, and operational continuity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
  • 3-6 years of transportation or logistics operations experience
  • Working knowledge of truckload, Intermodal, LTL, and rail transportation operations
  • Familiarity with freight, audit, pay, and claims processes

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in supervisory role strongly preferred
  • Experience working with third party logistics or managed transportation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day execution of all domestic transportation activities, including outbound customer shipments, inter-warehouse transfers, inbound supplies, and freight claims.
  • Ensure established daily workflows are executed accurately across rail, OTR, Intermodal, LTL, and freight audit and pay, serving as the primary escalation point for execution issues.
  • Act as the operational liaison with the third-party managed transportation provider, ensuring loads are tendered, tracked, and resolved in line with expectations.
  • Monitor shipment performance, address service failures, and coordinate issue resolution with carriers, warehouses, customer service, and the managed transportation provider.
  • Oversee freight audit, pay, and claims activities to ensure invoice accuracy, timely processing, and recovery of charges related to service or damage issues, carriers, or the managed transportation provider.
  • Supervise and support a team of hourly transportation clerks covering rail, OTR, Intermodal, LTL, and freight audit and pay.
  • Ensure consistent coverage, task prioritization, and adherence to established procedures.
  • Provide day-to-day direction, coaching, and problem support to maintain execution quality and continuity.
  • Coordinate cross-training and backup coverage as needed to reduce operational risk.
