About The Position

Based at a confidential location in the Scenic Rim, this role has responsibility for managing and leading the delivery of our Domestic and Family Violence Service. This important leadership role oversees short-term accommodation, transitional housing, therapeutic support and practical assistance to women and children escaping domestic and family violence. Our Domestic and Family Violence Refuge is a welcoming haven, providing a place of physical and emotional safety where women and children affected by Domestic and Family Violence can recover, rebuild and plan for a brighter future. We provide therapeutic support to help women and children break the cycle of violence and resettle into safe, affordable housing. Families have access to specialised counselling, child therapy, training in life skills, and links to health, legal and specialist services.

Requirements

  • passion, commitment and belief in young people
  • relevant degree level qualification and a minimum of 5 years’ experience working with victims of trauma and/or managing a diverse human services team
  • demonstrated understanding of and ability to develop effective service responses for women and children who have experienced domestic and family violence
  • demonstrated skills and experience in managing risk and safety
  • demonstrated experience in leading multidisciplinary teams to achieve program goals and performance targets
  • experience supervising therapeutic practice, managing performance and fostering a culture of ongoing development
  • experience in managing budgets and developing strategic and operational plans
  • demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and establish and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • ability to participate in the back-up on call roster, including the ability to return to site if required

Nice To Haves

  • experience working in a refuge environment is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a high performing team
  • Manage the delivery of services at our refuge, including oversight of facilities and site operations, ensuring safety, security and compliance
  • Manage the Transitional Housing program, ensuring improved outcomes for families transitioning from refuge to independent living
  • Manage external funding, represent yourtown in regional networks, forums, conferences and build and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders
  • Manage budgets and measure and report on program outcomes and achievements
  • Lead the continuous improvement of service delivery
  • Oversight of safeguarding and legal collaborative case reviews
  • Manage client safety and safety plans, assess and mitigate ongoing dynamic risks, de-escalation of resident’s dynamics and conflict resolution
  • Manage and participate in an effective after hours response
