About The Position

The Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet advances education, workforce development, and economic opportunity across the Commonwealth. The Cabinet provides education and training programs, employment and reemployment services, unemployment insurance, and disability determination services to help Kentuckians gain skills, find work, and maintain economic stability. It partners with education providers, workforce boards, and employers to align training with labor market needs and oversees labor programs that promote fair and safe workplaces. This is a federally funded time limited (FFTL) position. This means it is a position that is paid entirely as the result of a federal grant. The duration of employment shall not exceed the life of the federal grant that funds the position. An employee appointed to an FFTL position is required to meet the minimum requirements for the classification. Further, an employee appointed to an FFTL position is designated as an unclassified (non- merit) employee. An FFTL employee is eligible to receive benefits at the same level as a classified (merit) employee in a permanent position. This position will have access to confidential and sensitive information. The successful candidate will be required to ensure the safeguarding and security of all confidential and sensitive information and will be required to complete trainings, sign acknowledgments, follow all policies and adhere to all statutes and requirements pertaining to the safeguarding and security of confidential and sensitive information while employed and after employment ends.

Requirements

  • High school graduate.
  • Two years of clerical, administrative, or accounting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Learns to process benefits and tax documents received via mail and fax server.
  • Learns to prepare documents for scanning in a timely manner, including verifying information, separating data into categories, removing fasteners, and inserting separator sheets as needed.
  • Reviews documents for accuracy, enters data into systems, and maintains organized records.
  • Provides assistance to other document processing team members relating to forms of identification, document grouping, mail extraction, and sorting.
  • Removes incorrect documents from the system per the manager's request.
  • Responds to inquiries, supports staff, and manages workflow.
  • Corrects returned documents with errors in the system.
  • Assists the appeals section with checking out and returning stored evidence that cannot be electronically uploaded to the system.
  • Adheres to established standards to ensure compliance with Kentucky unemployment regulations.
  • Maintains daily work log and file maintenance.
  • Digitizes, indexes, and files records, ensuring security and confidentiality of sensitive personal data.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
