This position requires individuals to regularly attend criminal arraignments held in the Justice Center courtrooms, where they will interact with judges, the DA, and defense council. In these courtrooms, the dockets assistant will assist public defense counsel in organizing court documents and discovery, as well as taking detailed notes of proceedings and assisting out-of-custody clients and family as able. In the office, the dockets assistant will accurately create and update electronic records in the in-house database, including client name, court number, attorney/team assignments, future event dates and other critical case information. This is done for all levels within the adult criminal defense department of MPD. The dockets assistant reconciles daily case input, runs reports, and closes cases after disposition, accurately recording outcomes and details. The ideal candidate for this position will have strong attention to detail, data entry skills, and interpersonal communication skills. The dockets assistant receives general supervision from the Data Integrity Manager. This position pays $21.70 - $33.31/hr. Staff are members of a union. This is a full-time, in-office, non-exempt position.
