About The Position

The Vet Assistant, Tech Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality medical care to animals. This position involves assisting with clinical procedures, preparing and maintaining medical equipment, and ensuring a clean and safe environment for both patients and staff. The role requires compassionate interaction with animals and their owners, providing comfort and clear communication throughout the treatment process. Additionally, the assistant will manage administrative tasks such as record-keeping and appointment scheduling to facilitate smooth clinic operations. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the overall health and well-being of animal patients while supporting the veterinary team in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Atleast 1-2 years experience or formal training in animal care or veterinary assistance.
• Basic knowledge of animal handling and safety protocols.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting and restraining animals.

Nice To Haves

• Certification as a Veterinary Assistant or completion of a veterinary technology program.
• Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Knowledge of common veterinary medications and procedures.
• CPR and first aid certification for animals.
• Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures by restraining animals and preparing necessary instruments.
• Monitor and record vital signs, administer medications as directed, and provide basic nursing care to hospitalized animals.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of treatment areas, kennels, and equipment to comply with health and safety standards.
• Communicate effectively with pet owners by providing instructions on post-treatment care, answering routine questions, and scheduling follow-up appointments.
• Manage inventory of medical supplies and assist with administrative duties including updating patient records and processing billing information.
