About The Position

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Plan and direct the daily dock operations of loading, unloading, sorting and staging donated goods and new merchandise. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates the daily schedule of trucks and trailers to be loaded and unloaded.  Assigns personnel to equipment to be loaded and directs their activities.  Ensures productivity levels are met.  Monitors and tracks supplies, product, and trailers by conducting daily inventory.  Reposition bobtail trucks and trailers (utilizing noncommercial terminal tractor) within the yard.  Assists Dock Helpers and other staff in staging, unloading, etc. when necessary.  Ensures proper material handling and sorting.  Operates forklift as required.  Monitors performance and provides feedback to employees regarding areas requiring improvement.  Supervises the physical assets within areas of responsibility by effectively planning, organizing, prioritizing, problem solving, leading, motivating, coaching, training and disciplining.  Ensures the security of donations and that merchandise is loaded, unloaded and handled in a safe efficient manner.  Provides leadership to maintain a safe working environment.  Ensures the transportation yard and staging areas are kept orderly and that trash is disposed of in a timely manner.  Drives on company business as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Some college preferred.
  • Two years supervisory experience, preferably in a related field.
  • Forklift certification required; will be trained by Goodwill.
  • Ability to operate forklift and yard tractors.
  • Possess analytical skills including deductive reasoning.
  • Valid California driver’s license, liability insurance, and a DMV record acceptable to Goodwill’s Insurance Company.
