About The Position

CERTEX USA is seeking an experienced and dynamic Division Controller to join our team! Position Overview Job Summary: The Division Controller will have responsibility for the accounting, financial reporting, and internal control functions for a single division/company. The Division Controller will work closely with the CFO as well as the Division’s senior leadership team to develop and implement the overall transformation and growth strategy of the division and determine the short and long term financial and operational goals. As a key finance and division leader, the Divisional Controller will monitor financial health, challenge the status quo for continuous improvement and inspire creative and innovative ideas to drive business success.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform technical accounting research and implement new guidance and pronouncements
  • Must excel in driving business performance based on key performance indicators (KPIs) that are clearly aligned with the strategy and objectives of the company
  • Ability to identify and define business problems and issues, and to in turn develop strategic frameworks that drive actionable change
  • Understands the levers on both the operational (strong detail orientation) and customer / commercial side of the business; Track record of having outstanding and effective relationships with business leaders across the enterprise with strong credibility both internally and externally
  • Highly motivated and dynamic professional who is a self-starter with the proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Player-Coach mentality; willing and able to roll up their sleeves to operate tactically but also can seamlessly transition to strategic tasks as well
  • Capable of handling detail accurately while not losing sight of the big picture.
  • Confident and self-assured; Possesses a high level of intellectual curiosity and business acumen to effectively drive business growth and profitability

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Experience working with a rapidly growing distributor of industrial products
  • Experience with ERP implementations
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP. Ability to identify and make recommendations regarding technical accounting issues. CPA preferred
  • Proven experience as a Controller preferred, with 5 years of progressive accounting/financial leadership positions, ideally with public accounting experience in addition to management roles
  • Prior success in a fast-paced operational environment, and a track record of supervising the day-to-day operations and quality control of the accounting function
  • Prior experience managing external tax firms
  • Must be able to speak and read the English language

  • CPA preferred
  • Background in a financial leadership role within a private equity-backed company is a benefit

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement processes, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accurate and timely completion of required tasks in all functional areas.
  • Establish adequate internal controls to ensure that inventory costing is accurate, and act as a lead finance liaison with operations to complete adequate inventory counts
  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes for assigned division/company.
  • Record corporate activity and maintain corporate ledgers.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of general ledger, balance sheet, A/P, A/R, and fixed assets
  • Manage the preparation and distribution of accurate and timely financial reports, including reports for internal management, private equity ownership, and external stakeholders.
  • Provide consolidated reporting for assigned segments and business units.
  • Maintain direct communication with private equity sponsors and lenders
  • Lead annual audit of financial statements for division and coordinate with outside auditors to assure a timely and orderly audit process
  • Provide ad hoc support to the CFO and/or Controller on special projects, marrying financial analysis with a broader understanding of business strategy
  • Provide accurate weekly cash forecasting, monitor cash flow, and direct all debt and bank account activities
  • Manage, train, and lead the Division’s accounting team.
  • Attract, develop, and retain competent and committed employees.
  • Motivate and reinforce teamwork and establish clear performance metrics for accounting team members
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with the CFO, management, other key stakeholders, and employees.
