Christensen, Inc., is a privately held, mid-market fuel, propane and lubricants distributor with operations in the western US, with a significant presence in the Pacific Northwest, and has a growing mixed portfolio of 10,000+ active customers. The company’s expansion and future growth plans have created the need for an experienced Business Unit Division Controller to focus on business unit operations, assets, capital, and operating expenses. The role will also be the process owner for the business unit’s Order-to-Cash (O2C) process tower, inventory management, governance, accounting, and reporting. There are currently three new Division Controller roles to support the companies three distinct businesses, Retail Fuel/Dealer Division, Commercial Division, and FleetCard Division. Reporting to the CFO, the Division Controller is an integral member of Christensen's Finance Leadership Team (FLT) and a key partner to the Operations Business Unit Leader. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the capability and capacity to be part of an organization focused on growth. The role has high expectations and demands on time. This role is a unique opportunity to be a leader in an organization that has plans to grow and expand significantly. The Division Controller will have to operate like a business owner to be successful. The Division Controller will be tasked with leading key business unit functions and process towers and working within the policies and guidelines established by the “Corporate” FLT Leaders. The Division Controller will be required to manage maintain a certain level of “finance / accounting independence” with being a key partner to the business unit leadership team and committed to leading Division Controller Team to achieve the vision of the Office of the CFO (OCFO). The role also includes a significant number of tactical hands-on ownership of certain responsibilities, a focus on detail, and requires a strategic thinker who can manage daily financial tasks, strengthen internal controls, and provide critical financial insights to senior leadership to support our growth. There is a career path within the role and/or within the Corporate and Family Office structure. Christensen has a significant appetite for organic growth and M&A. The incumbent will be expected to support growth plans, maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics and goals, and to continuously improve the team and the processes owned, as well as collaborating with peers to do the same in other areas of FLT and business units. The Division Controller will lead, coach, and develop a best-in-class team and foster a positive and proactive team-oriented environment in alignment with Christensen’s Core Values and Executive Leadership’s direction as well as the OCFO guiding principles and vision. The successful candidate will be able to operate with minimal direction and be able to identify the needs of the CFO and senior leaders and flex to meet the expectations of those needs (e.g., reporting, insights, communication, etc.).
