About The Position

This is a part-time, seasonal position reporting to the Head Swimming and Diving Coach. The Assistant Coach is responsible for assisting in all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division III varsity diving program. The primary focus is the instruction, safety, and recruitment of student-athletes within the diving discipline. This role requires a commitment to the mission of Mount Holyoke College, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment that supports the holistic development of scholar-athletes. The position includes evening and weekend hours and follows the academic calendar.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse student body and a commitment to fostering an inclusive team culture.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and prospective families.
  • Ability to safely use a trampoline and spotting rig for training and instructive purposes.
  • Current Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous coaching experience
  • Competitive diving experience.
  • Lifeguard Training Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all diving practices, meets, and dryland activities.
  • Provide technical analysis of performance, identifying areas for improvement and teaching new dives and techniques using specialized equipment (e.g., trampoline and spotting rig).
  • Ensure all activities adhere to industry safety standards.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of and compliance with NCAA Division III and Mount Holyoke College regulations regarding recruiting, student-athlete eligibility, and PSA (Prospective Student-Athlete) evaluations.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of diving recruitment. Identify, evaluate, and communicate with PSAs to build a competitive roster of student-athletes.
  • Oversee the academic progress and personal well-being of swimming and diving student-athletes, serving as a mentor and resource.
  • Assist the Head Coach with administrative tasks, including travel logistics, meal arrangements, fundraising initiatives, and home meet management.
  • Maintain and oversee the upkeep of diving-specific equipment (boards, harnesses, trampolines) to ensure a safe and high-functioning training environment.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of e-Dive, Dive Meet, and other relevant recruiting or department software.
  • Other duties as assigned.
