Crofton is seeking a Diving Superintendent to join our team. The ideal Diving Superintendent will be physically and medically fit for the job, situationally aware and able to work safely in a multiple work operation environment.

Requirements

  • ADCI/ACDE Entry Level Diver/Tender or Commercial Diver certification
  • Current Association of Diving Contractors International (ADCI) Dive Physical
  • Current Diving Oxygen Provider and CPR/First Aid/AED Certification
  • Ability to successfully complete any specific safety or job training that may be required
  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent
  • Successfully completed education at ADCI accredited and/or military dive school
  • Frequently lift, push, pull, reach and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb, kneel, and squat
  • Must be able to work in zero visibility
  • Hand-eye coordination, quick reaction time, control precision, depth perception and manual dexterity
  • Must be situationally aware, able to safely work in a multiple work operation environment
  • Must be able to work outdoors under all weather conditions
  • Must be able to work at depths of 100 feet below and/or heights up to 100 feet-No Fear of Heights
  • Must be physically and medically qualified to wear required personal protective equipment
  • Must be able to read, write, hear, interact and communicate with all types of personnel

Responsibilities

  • Carry out non-destructive testing and accurately report results
  • Check and maintain diving equipment such as helmets, Diver EGS, harnesses, umbilical’s, etc.
  • Inspect and test docks, ships, buoyage systems, plant intakes and outflows, and underwater pipelines, cables, and sewers, using closed circuit television, still photography, and testing equipment
  • Recover objects by placing rigging around sunken objects, hooking/rigging to crane lines, and operating winches or derricks to raise objects
  • Operate underwater video, recording, and related equipment to investigate underwater structures
  • Perform activities related to underwater search and rescue, salvage, recovery, and cleanup operations
  • Repair ships, bridge foundations, and other structures below the water line
  • Salvage wrecked ships and/or their cargo, using pneumatic and hydraulic tools
  • Set or guide placement of pilings and sandbags to provide support for structures such as docks, bridges, cofferdams, and platforms
  • Take appropriate safety precautions, such as monitoring dive lengths and depths, and registering with authorities before diving expeditions begin
  • Obtain information about diving tasks and environmental conditions
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure, precision scales, and calipers
  • Ability to comprehend blueprints and develop job specifications
