About The Position

Security Coordinator Qualifications: 3-5 years of experience in buildings and property security assessment. Working knowledge of access control, investigations, alarm systems, disaster control and safety. Cleet certified with current law enforcement commission. Experience in dealing with all levels of management and staff. Collaborates with School Resource Officers. Reports to: Superintendent and/or designated supervisor Performance Responsibilities Security Controls for the Schools and School Property Develop procedures for key control for school buildings and school properties. Develop procedures for securing alarm codes and usage Access Control of Buildings Develop and maintain an access control system for all schools and school properties Work with IT department on use of camera systems in schools Work with IT department to allow camera access to authorized personnel School Safety and Secure Building Meetings Work with Safe/Drug Free committee to address concerns and needs of each school Maintain Quarterly Safety Assessment Reports Work with Oklahoma Homeland Security and conduct Sight Safety Assessment in accordance with Oklahoma Homeland Security procedures Work with Principals and Administrators on Safety and Securing Schools Conduct quarterly meetings with school personnel concerning safety and health issues Disaster Control and Recovery Develop and maintain disaster control and recovery procedures to ensure that all records and school property are safe and secure in the event of a natural or man made disaster Bus Security and Safety Maintain procedures for the security of busses Work with transportation on maintaining cameras on each vehicle Fire, Tornado, Lockdown Drills and Procedures Work with building principals on procedures and policies Work with building principals on meeting required drills in accordance with state and local regulations Work with local fire and police on additional procedures Safety of School Employees and Students Work with principals and administrators on securing building to control access Playground Safety Monitor playground equipment for safe use of the students Working with Community Leaders Work with community leaders, school safety committees, school committees for their help and knowledge in maintaining a safe school and community atmosphere Massive Evacuations Drills and Procedures Work with schools and local police and fire in implementing procedures for mass evacuations Ensure that at least one mass evacuation drill is performed at each site and keep records for district procedures Disaster Training Develop disaster training policy and procedures for implementing disaster training for schools “Credibility Liaison” Work with counselors and the community to find community service for students and future leaders to promote volunteer service and community activity Monitor Inclement Weather Monitor all weather sources for information on approaching weather and advise administration Internal Theft and Loss Prevention Conduct investigations for loss and theft of school property Conduct investigations for crimes and acts against school personnel and property Alarm Systems Conduct fire and burglary alarm testing and maintain them in proper working condition Work with fire, medical, and police in maintaining access to schools Physical/Mental Requirements and Working conditions: In a workday, the employee must stand/walk approximately 7-8 hours per day. Employee's job requires frequent to continuous bending/stooping; squatting/crouching; occasional to frequent crawling/kneeling; frequent to continuous reaching above shoulder; continuous pushing/pulling. Employee's job requires occasional lifting 50-75 pounds. Job requires employee to use both hands for such repetitive actions requiring simple/firm grasping and/or fine manipulation. Employee must possess hearing/speaking ability to communicate with fellow workers and the students/public. Employee must have mental requirement to understand and follow instructions and avoid safety problems. Successful performance of the job requires people skills to work with students, teachers, and fellow employees. It requires following safety guidelines and policies to avoid accident and injury. It requires following school dress standards, proper attendance or leave policies, and other work-habits concerns. The employee must use initiative and self discipline to get the work done; Must be able to cooperate with other staff members and have a positive attitude towards staff, students, and the public to enhance educational goals.
