Responsible for the efficient operation and maximization of sales and profits across all retail stores within the assigned area. Ensures that store operations align with established Company policies, standards, and objectives. Builds and develops store teams that deliver outstanding customer satisfaction through friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive associates who are passionate about the food business. Through coaching and counseling, this leader develops Store Directors and Department Managers to deliver the company’s value proposition—operating stores that are clean, fresh, well‑stocked, and merchandised to reflect the neighborhoods they serve. Ensures store directors and department managers understand their financial responsibilities and holds them accountable for achieving and exceeding performance commitments. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the efficient operation and maximization of sales and profits across all retail stores within the assigned area.
  • Ensures that store operations align with established Company policies, standards, and objectives.
  • Builds and develops store teams that deliver outstanding customer satisfaction through friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive associates who are passionate about the food business.
  • Develop store teams to meet and exceed period, quarterly, and annual financial metrics (sales, EBITDA, DSI, shrink, OSAT, etc.).
  • Review sales, P&L, and labor reports to identify trends, opportunities, and underlying issues; coach Store Directors to create action plans rooted in data.
  • Ensure Store Directors and Department Managers understand their fiscal responsibilities and hold them accountable for achieving and surpassing financial expectations.
  • Coach Store Directors and Department Managers on all aspects of financial management, including budgets, projections, sales forecasting, labor management, shrink reduction, inventory control, and asset management.
  • Review and approve store operating commitments in partnership with Store Directors.
  • Guide store teams in executing company merchandising initiatives while ensuring offerings remain locally relevant to maximize sales and profits.
  • Review advertising and promotional plans with the marketing team; support development of marketing programs for new or remodeled stores and in‑store signing initiatives.
  • Monitor competitive activity and collaborate with marketing to counteract sales and profit erosion.
  • Evaluate competition from operational, customer, and cultural perspectives; stay current on industry trends, innovations, and best practices.
  • Ensure merchandising programs are properly executed by store teams using best methods.
  • Coach and counsel store teams to elevate performance and drive profitable sales through creative, localized merchandising strategies.
  • Solicit customer insights through Store Directors and partner with them to evaluate opportunities based on local demographics.
  • Conduct regular store walks with store management to ensure: Merchandising programs are executed Opportunities are being uncovered Order‑writing, in‑stock conditions, rotation, product mix, pricing, and inventory integrity are maintained
  • Maintain a strong community presence by supporting company, division, and store‑specific charitable initiatives.
  • Develop Store Directors and Department Managers to maximize associate potential and create an engaged workforce throughout each store.
  • Model an open‑door communication style focused on listening and promoting a collaborative environment.
  • Ensure accountability for all staffing functions, including interviewing, selection, development of future leaders, training processes, performance coaching, succession planning, diversity, change management, and recognition programs.
  • Maintain responsibility for management staffing across the assigned area and develop Store Directors to execute robust succession planning within their stores.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with store support teams, suppliers, and community partners.
  • Ensure all stores within the assigned area operate in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies.
