About The Position

The Lead Dispatch and Compliance Administrator will administer the scheduling, dispatching, and compliance of Drivers to ensure effective driver utilization and compliance with Federal and State regulations for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Department of Transportation (DOT). This role will lead broker back haul opportunities to maximize asset utilization to avoid empty miles and will assure the entire process of each delivery, from start of route to the final delivery, adheres to all company expectations.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in transportation dispatch, including at least 1 year of experience in a leadership role.
  • 1+ year of leadership experience required, preferably in a transportation environment.
  • High school diploma or GED required, bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in FMCSA and DOT compliance.
  • Skilled at intermediate level in Microsoft Office and routing software.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Ability to present data effectively.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • May require occasional travel.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL-A is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the dispatch team in the scheduling and dispatch of drivers.
  • Lead backhaul projects and find potential opportunities for vans and cap trailers.
  • Create performance reports for driver appraisals and goal tracking.
  • Create and maintain KPIs to improve driver safety and overall performance.
  • Monitor driver locations/movement for safety and FMCSA and DOT compliance on Elogs and paperwork.
  • Cross train and provide vacation assistance in other areas as needed.
  • Administer the DOT Random Drug Testing program.
  • Create and maintain training schedules for new hire drivers.
  • Manage the routing software and TMS applications.
