About The Position

Berry Street Yooralla's Community Access Services in the Shepparton Area are seeking motivated individuals for Disability Support Worker roles. As part of dynamic Community Access Teams, the role involves supporting children, teenagers, and adults with a disability to actively participate in their community and within their home. The position offers valuable experience, learning and development opportunities, and flexible hours. Yooralla is Victoria’s most established and recognized for-purpose disability service provider with over 100 years of experience, committed to diversity, inclusion, and equality.

Requirements

  • A positive approach, initiative and self-motivation
  • Willingness to be committed to empowering clients to reach their goals, and to upholding quality and safeguards in everyday work
  • Effective communication skills, and good English literacy to communicate well with clients
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team
  • Willingness to support clients with personal care activities
  • Australian Driver Licence
  • Working with Children Check
  • The right to work in Australia
  • The ability to get a First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate if you don’t already have one
  • Subject to NDIS Worker Screening Check

Nice To Haves

  • A Certificate IV in Disability
  • Relevant work experience
  • An interest in community services

Responsibilities

  • Supporting children, teenagers and adults with a disability to actively participate in their community and within their home
  • Supporting adults with disability to get out and about in the community
  • Supporting people one-on-one or in groups, mostly in the community, and occasionally in their homes
  • Supporting clients with working towards their goals
  • Supporting clients with a wide range of recreation and social activities
  • Supporting children and youth to participate in after school care and school holiday programs
  • Supporting children, youth and adults to attend a camp or to go on a holiday
  • Supporting clients with shopping, appointments and events
  • Engaging clients in meaningful opportunities and relationships
  • Assisting with daily living and personal care needs, including assistance with meal preparation, personal hygiene and mobility
