At Yooralla, you’ll have the opportunity to make a positive difference, supporting people at Community Hubs, in the community, and occasionally at home, to acheive their goals A day in the life of a Community and Recreation Disability Support worker at Yooralla. So what will you actually be doing as a Disability Support Worker (DSW) in Community and Recreation? This rewarding role supports adults with disability to get out and about in the community. You may support people one-on-one or in groups, mostly in the community, and occasionally in their homes. No one work day will be the same!

Requirements

  • availability to work 2-4 days per week
  • required experience supporting clients with epilepsy and/ or asthma
  • a positive approach, initiative and self-motivation
  • willingness to be committed to empowering our clients to reach their goals, and to upholding quality and safeguards in your everyday work
  • effective communication skills, and good English literacy to communicate well with our clients
  • ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team
  • willingness to support clients with personal care activities
  • Australian Driver Licence
  • the right to work in Australia
  • The ability to get a First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate if you don’t already have one
  • You will be subject to NDIS Worker Screening Check

Nice To Haves

  • A Certificate IV in Disability, relevant work experience or an interest in community services
