Directs and controls Warehouse, Transportation, Maintenance and Sanitation to ensure the efficient and economical utilization of facilities manpower and equipment for the storage and distribution of product. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field and/or equivalent work experience in wholesale procedures.
  • Possess a good working knowledge of retail food store operations.
  • Possess good leadership skills and the ability to supervise the work of others. Must be able to motivate and work with and through others to achieve desired results.
  • Must have the ability to represent the Company's interests in negotiations with outside professionals and consultants.
  • Possess good communication skills, both verbal and written. Deal effectively with a wide variety of people both in person and over the telephone.
  • Basic computer skills required and personal computer experience, with word processing and spreadsheet applications preferred.
  • Requires the analytical ability to handle administrative duties and mental alertness to ensure accurate, safe, and thorough completion of work activities. Possess ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions.

Responsibilities

  • Interfaces with Warehouse, Transportation, and Maintenance managers, reviewing daily activities, projections, work schedules, and various other department issues.
  • Communicates with store and division office associates regarding operational issues and impact on them.
  • Assess manpower, requirements and develops plans for achievement with department managers and the Human Resource department.
  • Reviews operational reports and P&L statements.
  • Responds to associates' questions, requests, hot line calls, grievances and other labor relation issues, as instructed by the General Manager.
  • Approves or rejects store credit issues.
  • Reviews and adjusts quarterly projections with General Manager, Controller and department managers.
  • Reviews with department managers, the development of associates and create plans for individual advancement.
  • Provides General Manager operational updates and exchange ideas for improvement in operations.
  • Walks area of responsibility looking for compliance with programs and improvement of methods.
  • Assists department managers in the creation of the annual capital expenditure budget.
