About The Position

Valiant Residential is seeking a Director of Training and Development to lead the strategic design, execution, and continuous improvement of enterprise training, onboarding, and leadership development across a large, multi-market multifamily portfolio. This role is responsible for setting the vision for learning and development, building and leading a high-performing Training and Development team, and ensuring training programs are operationally aligned, scalable, and consistently executed across all communities. The Director of Training and Development partners closely with Operations, executive leadership, and corporate support teams to identify performance gaps, support organizational change, reinforce company culture, and drive measurable improvements in operational performance, compliance, customer experience, and leadership readiness. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Real Estate, Property Management, Hospitality, Organizational Leadership, or related field preferred); Master’s degree (MBA or related) a plus.
  • Ten or more years of multifamily experience, including at least three years in a senior training, learning and development, or operations leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of multifamily operations, onsite workflows, Fair Housing, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams across multiple markets.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and managing training programs that improve operational performance, compliance, and customer experience.
  • Proficiency with LMS platforms, e-learning tools, and digital training technologies. Yardi a plus.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to evaluate training effectiveness using KPIs, performance trends, and operational outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Willingness and ability to work one hundred percent in-office and to travel up to twenty-five percent to support training delivery, leadership development, transitions, and field operations.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation, including working in office and onsite environments, walking properties, navigating stairs, using standard office and training equipment, and occasionally lifting training materials weighing up to fifteen pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Set the strategic vision for training, onboarding, leadership development, and compliance education across all markets, ensuring alignment with operational goals, company standards, and long-term growth objectives.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing Training and Development team responsible for delivering consistent, high-quality learning programs across onsite, regional, and corporate roles.
  • Design and govern enterprise training curricula, learning paths, and leadership development frameworks that strengthen bench strength, close performance gaps, and reinforce company culture and service standards at the site level.
  • Partner with Operations and executive leadership to anticipate organizational needs and ensure training supports current workflows, systems, initiatives, and performance expectations.
  • Lead training support for acquisitions, transitions, lease-ups, system implementations, process changes, and companywide initiatives, ensuring effective change management and adoption.
  • Oversee onboarding programs for all onsite and regional positions, ensuring new hires are equipped with the tools, knowledge, and expectations needed for success.
  • Ensure compliance, Fair Housing, safety, legal, and policy training is delivered consistently and effectively to mitigate risk and support operational accuracy.
  • Leverage LMS platforms, digital learning tools, and instructional design best practices to deliver engaging, scalable learning solutions across multiple formats.
  • Monitor training effectiveness using KPIs, performance trends, and operational outcomes, providing leadership with insights, recommendations, and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Reinforce company culture, accountability, and service excellence so they are consistently experienced across all communities.
  • Travel up to 25 percent as needed to support training delivery, leadership development, transitions, and field operations.
