About The Position

The Technology Sourcing & Category Management Director will lead a team of sourcing professionals to drive transformative sourcing and category strategies across several technology domains: Auto & Insurance Technology (AIPD), Enterprise Data & Analytics (EDA), Bank and Invest Technology (BILD), and Architecture & Corporate Technology (ACT). This role partners closely with business and technology leaders to deliver forward-looking, proactive, and best-in-industry results in supply chain and supplier risk management. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of team activities, directing organizational and process change to optimize performance and mitigate risk. They will manage strategic projects through all phases, controlling scope, quality, and schedule, while overseeing team activities and performance. This is a pivotal role in developing and nurturing close partnerships with primary lines of business and leadership teams to develop progressive, high-impact supply chain strategies that support and advance key business goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of strategic sourcing, negotiation, and procurement management experience, preferably within financial services or technology domains.
  • 3+ years of experience in people management with a demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in technology categories and commodities, including software licensing and subscriptions, SaaS applications, enterprise architecture tools, BI platforms, and other critical business technology solutions, a plus.
  • Experience leading teams and managing complex sourcing projects, including RFx/auctions and large third-party supplier contracts.
  • Advanced analytical ability to develop, analyze, and present complex cost models, business cases, and strategic plans.
  • Proficiency in business and industry analysis, financial analysis, supplier selection and management, contract negotiations, conflict management, decision making, and strategic thinking.
  • Experience with e-procurement systems and platforms (preferably Coupa) and driving digital transformation within Source-to-Pay processes.
  • Strong persuasion and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic business environment with the ability to multi-task and manage large projects across multiple parties.
  • Demonstrated agility and ability to handle difficult situations with clients and/or vendor negotiations.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal business partners and work collaboratively across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Position reports to the Head of Technology Sourcing & Category Management and will lead a team of supply chain professionals responsible for driving industry-leading and progressive sourcing, supplier and category strategies in direct support of Ally technology.
  • Lead sourcing and category management for multiple technology domains, developing deep expertise in spend categories and key suppliers supporting these areas.
  • Oversee all sourcing/procurement activity with high-exposure and critical supplier relationships.
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues and workgroups critical to executing sourcing strategies, negotiating contracts, managing third-party relationships, and onboarding/offboarding supplier partners (e.g., Legal, Information Security, Third Party Risk Management, HR, Data Privacy, Compliance, FP&A, CFOs, Supply Chain Shared Services, other Sourcing Managers, etc.).
  • Manage highly effective, fact-based sourcing processes and negotiation strategies to maximize business value and risk mitigation.
  • Maximize compliance and optimize spend against established engagement procedures, buying channels, supplier contracts, and related programs.
  • Support end-to-end management of critical supplier relationships, including issue/dispute resolution, risk management, contract inventory management, performance and scorecard management, and negotiation strategies.
  • Enable all required supplier risk management activities within the supported technology organizations.
  • Identify and implement consistent and continuous process, policy, and performance improvement programs.
  • Create and maintain an environment of transparency, performance, and risk management that encourages innovation, integrity, and teamwork.
  • Drive adoption of technology upgrades, reporting & analytics, and data transformation initiatives within sourcing and contracting programs.
  • Utilize data and analytics to drive prioritization and execution of transformation activities.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously enhance sourcing and transformation strategy.
