Job Summary The Director of Category Management is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and executing BrightView's procurement strategy across $800M in spend. This position drives value creation through innovative sourcing strategies, advanced analytics, and strong supplier partnerships. The Director leads a team of category managers and collaborates with cross-functional leaders to deliver cost optimization, compliance, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field; master's degree or certification (CPSM, PMP) preferred.
  • 10+ years of procurement or supply chain experience; including 5+ years in category management leadership
  • Proven success in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and program management.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in spend analysis tools and dashboards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
  • Collaborative leader who inspires teams and drives accountability.
  • Skilled in change management and organizational transformation.
  • Constant operation of a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, a cell phone, and printers/copiers
  • Position is sedentary; must be able to remain in a stationary position for the majority of time.
  • Operates in an office environment and requires in-person presence.
  • Occasional travel for supplier engagement and business reviews.
  • Work is conducted in a professional office environment, with a collaborative and dynamic team setting and requires in-person presence.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement multi-year category strategies and roadmaps for direct, indirect, and labor cost categories.
  • Align procurement initiatives with corporate objectives, ensuring measurable impact on profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a thought leader in procurement transformation, introducing best practices and innovative sourcing models.
  • Stand up and manage a robust spend analytics platform to enhance visibility and decision-making.
  • Drive data governance and classification improvements to support accurate reporting and actionable insights.
  • Establish KPIs for spend under management, compliance, and supplier performance.
  • Negotiate and manage enterprise-level supplier agreements, focusing on pricing, SLAs, and risk mitigation.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with strategic suppliers to foster collaboration and innovation.
  • Design and execute scalable supplier business reviews to ensure alignment with BrightView's goals.
  • Partner with field leadership (SVPs, VPs/GMs, Branch Managers) to identify sourcing opportunities and close program gaps.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, driving adoption of preferred supplier programs and compliance initiatives.
  • Champion change management efforts to ensure smooth implementation of new processes and systems.
  • Monitor supplier performance using scorecards and analytics; lead corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maximize savings through competitive sourcing, rebate programs, and strategic pricing structures.
  • Support BrightView's sustainability and supplier diversity objectives.
