About The Position

We are seeking an accomplished Director of Supply Chain to lead end‑to‑end supply chain strategy and execution for major shipbuilding programs. This senior role is accountable for material readiness, supplier performance, industrial base health, and logistics execution across multi‑billion‑dollar vessel design, construction, integration, and sustainment. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in defense supply chains, shipyard operations, and compliance (FAR/DFARS, ITAR/EAR), with a track record of building resilient supply networks for complex, long‑lead, and high‑criticality components.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience leading complex defense or shipbuilding supply chains (Tier‑1 OEM, shipyard, naval integrator, or prime contractor).
  • Demonstrated success managing multi‑year, high‑value material portfolios and long‑lead components for complex platforms.
  • Expertise in supply chain planning (IBP/S&OP/MRP), procurement, logistics, and supplier quality within regulated environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of FAR/DFARS, DPAS, ITAR/EAR, cybersecurity and data rights implications, and cost/price analysis.
  • Proven experience recovering distressed supply chains—capacity constraints, schedule slips, quality escapes, and emergent risk.
  • Leadership experience managing and developing large, cross‑functional teams and influencing senior stakeholders across government and industry.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance (Secret or higher).
  • US citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • DAWIA/DAWDF, APICS/ASCM (CPIM/CSCP), NCMA (CPCM/CFCM), or Six Sigma/Lean certifications.
  • Experience with shipyard environments and major defense suppliers.
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA programs, PEO Ships/PEO USC/PEO IWS, and government oversight entities (DCMA, DCAA, OIG).
  • Knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 quality systems, supplier PPAP/FAI, and nonconformance/CAR management.
  • Experience with digital supply chain tools and ERP/MRP systems and advanced analytics for supply risk.

Responsibilities

  • Own the supply chain strategy and operating model for naval shipbuilding programs, aligning material plans with cost, schedule, and technical baselines.
  • Lead sourcing, category management, and procurement for critical systems.
  • Develop and manage master production schedules, BOM accuracy, long‑lead and special tooling plans, make/buy decisions, and demand signals to suppliers and shipyards.
  • Drive supplier performance management—quality, OTD, capacity, cost, and risk—using KPIs, tier‑ed reviews, recovery plans, and incentive frameworks.
  • Establish and oversee logistics, warehousing, material control, and kitting processes to ensure right‑first‑time delivery to build sequences and integration milestones.
  • Implement robust risk management for single/sole‑source items, obsolescence/DMSMS, counterfeit parts prevention, cybersecurity requirements, and export controls.
  • Ensure compliance with FAR/DFARS, DPAS rated orders, Buy American/Berry Amendment (as applicable), ITAR/EAR, and internal governance standards.
  • Partner with Program Management, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Contracts to enable design for supply, producibility, and lifecycle sustainment.
  • Lead supplier development and industrial base expansion initiatives—capacity adds, dual sourcing, qualification, and long‑term agreements with shipyards and OEMs.
  • Prepare executive briefings and artifacts (SCPs, SRAs, material risk registries, should‑costs) for milestone decisions, audits, and customer reviews (e.g., NAVSEA, DCMA).
  • Build, mentor, and scale a high‑performing team across procurement, planning, logistics, supplier quality, and materials management.
