About The Position

The Director, Strategic Planning at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is a unique and pivotal role for a seasoned healthcare strategy professional eager to make a significant impact in the strategy domain. As a key advisor, you will be instrumental in managing the annual planning process, setting goals, and developing strategic plans that will drive Children's Healthcare of Atlanta forward. Your expertise in storytelling, both through slides and writing, will be crucial in crafting compelling narratives that align the organization's mission with actionable plans. You will be at the forefront of monitoring market intelligence and strategic plan implementation, ensuring that our organization not only adapts to changes but also anticipates and capitalizes on emerging opportunities. This role is perfect for a leader who thrives in a dynamic, in-person environment and is passionate about developing high-performing teams. You will have the opportunity to lead and strengthen a team of 20 talented strategy, project management, data analysis and physician outreach professionals, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and innovation, all while supporting our mission to improve the health and well-being of children. Your leadership will be vital in managing the strategic initiatives portfolio, intervening when necessary to keep projects on track, and ensuring that performance targets are met. Moreover, you will play a crucial role in developing strategy communications for executive and board meetings, coordinating market and consumer research, and providing essential consultation to strategy consultants. Requirements

  • At least ten (10) years of healthcare experience.
  • Experience leading and managing a team of direct reports.
  • Experience leading data analysis and reporting functions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Healthcare Management or related discipline.
  • Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving: Strong ability to think strategically and analytically to identify challenges and develop effective solutions that align with organizational goals.
  • Communication and Storytelling: Demonstrates strong presentation and written communication skills; exceptional ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Market Intelligence and Industry Acumen: Knowledge of the healthcare sector, particularly pediatric healthcare, including emerging trends, market dynamics and regulatory considerations. Expertise in analyzing market trends to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Strategic Planning and Management: Deep understanding of strategic planning processes, including goal setting, strategic plan development, and implementation.
  • Project Management: Understanding of project management tools and best practices and experience in applying these tools into a dynamic healthcare environment; proven ability to manage multiple initiatives and ensure delivery of desired outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Strategic Initiatives Portfolio Management: Oversee the entire portfolio of strategic initiatives within the PMO, proactively intervening when projects fall behind schedule, exceed budget, or fail to deliver expected results, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission to make kids better today and healthier tomorrow.
  • Monitor and Report on Strategic Initiatives: Continuously assess and report on the status, risks, and interdependencies of strategic initiatives, employing critical thinking and problem-solving skills to guide decision-making and maintain momentum.
  • Coach and Develop Team: Mentor and develop team members in setting performance targets for strategic initiatives, utilizing standardized terminology and measurement definitions, and fostering a high-performing and collaborative team environment.
  • Develop and Communicate Strategic Updates: Craft and deliver compelling strategy communications to leaders, the executive team, and the board, utilizing exceptional storytelling and communication skills to convey the status of strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Coordinate Executive and Board Meetings: Organize and support meeting planning for executive-level and board engagements, ensuring that presentations and discussions are aligned with strategic priorities and organizational goals.
  • Conduct Market and Consumer Research: Lead the planning, execution, and reporting of market and consumer research activities, integrating insights into strategic decision-making to anticipate and respond to industry trends and opportunities.
  • Analyze and Report Data: Conduct comprehensive analysis and reporting to inform strategic planning, leveraging data-driven insights to support informed decision-making and strategy development.
  • Create and Manage Strategic Scorecards: Develop and oversee strategic and operational scorecards, selecting appropriate reporting tools and educating leaders on their use to track progress and drive accountability.
  • Support Strategy Development with Data: Provide consultation and up-to-date data to operations leaders, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary insights to develop and refine strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Develop and Monitor Goals: Collaborate with leaders to develop and monitor system and individual goals, ensuring they are aligned with the organization's mission and strategic vision.
  • Align Organizational Strategy: Report and communicate a comprehensive and cohesive strategy that aligns the organization to a common understanding of the Children's Strategy, fostering a shared commitment to achieving strategic objectives.
