About The Position

Goodwin University Magnet School System, is seeking a Director of RiverTech at Goodwin University. The Director is responsible for all aspects of the RiverTech Program, Connecticut’s first technical magnet school located in East Hartford, CT on the campus of Goodwin University. The Director is directly responsible to the Superintendent of Goodwin University Magnet School System and will supervise all staff members assigned to RiverTech.

Requirements

  • Must hold a current Intermediate Administrative Certification (092)
  • At least 5 years of experience within a technical high school setting
  • At least 3 years of experience as a technical high school administrator

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional leadership and assist in the development of curriculum and instructional programs
  • Establish and maintain high expectations and standards for student learning and behavior
  • Participate in development and implementation of school goals and performance plans
  • Assess student achievement using local test, state test, standardized tests, and other appropriate measures
  • Participate in recruitment, selection, and recommendation of staff
  • Direct, supervise, and evaluate professional, paraprofessional and support staff
  • Plan and implement staff in-service programs; encourage and direct attendance at professional development meetings, workshops, and conferences
  • Prepare and monitor budget and resources related to the school
  • Prepare state, federal, and other reports as necessary
  • Serve as liaison from RiverTech to Goodwin University staff, participating school districts, local, state, and federal agencies
  • Develop a program of public relations furthering the community’s understanding and support of the total school educational program
  • Direct and supervise support services of the school such as transportation, before and after school programs, food services, etc. as necessary
  • Facilitate parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
  • Assist in recruitment and retention of students to meet enrollment requirements.
  • Contribute to the mission, vision, and goals of the district
  • Perform other tasks as appropriately assigned
