JOB SUMMARY Develops and provides guidance and training on the company’s records retention policies and procedures and collaborates on data governance and other related initiatives; manages a team of litigation paralegals; and assists with various litigation-related projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Certified Records Manager (CRM) designation from the Institute of Certified Records Managers (or equivalent training) with a four-year bachelor’s degree.
  • 8-10 years of records management experience.
  • 8-10 years of experience supervising others in a work environment.
  • Experience implementing records programs and familiarity with the electronic storage systems typically used in a large corporate environment.
  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Strong presentation skills are essential for communicating and persuading diverse audiences.
  • Ability to design and implement complex projects in a large corporate environment by building consensus and developing practical, workable solutions.
  • Understanding and previous use of a Windows-based computer system with proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • 10 years of records management experience.
  • Prior experience working in a law firm or corporate legal department.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s records retention policies, procedures, and retention schedules.
  • Provide regular guidance to stakeholders on legal, regulatory, and internal record retention requirements, secure destruction or archiving of records, and compliance with legal hold obligations.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including Data Science, IT, Information Security, and Legal, on the development and implementation of various data classification and other information governance policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Assist in developing and providing training on the company’s records retention policies and procedures.
  • Assist with efforts to audit compliance of the company’s records retention policies, procedures, and retention schedules.
  • Manage a high-functioning team of litigation paralegals and coordinate with lawyers on the team to identify paralegal resources for tasks and projects, develop and document consistent protocols, create efficiencies, and facilitate teamwork, collaboration, and cross-training among paralegals.
  • Assist with various litigation-related projects, including working with business stakeholders to monitor and help ensure compliance with legal obligations arising from settlements or other legal commitments, and assisting with detailed reviews and analyses of outside counsel invoices and spend on large-scale litigation matters.
  • Maintain records management industry memberships and certifications and remain current on industry standards, trends, and best practices through continuing education opportunities.
  • Contribute to team effort by timely meeting commitments and working smartly with minimal supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Some travel is required.
