About The Position

Director, Program Management – Data Security Program Organization: Corporate, External & Legal Affairs (CELA), Compliance & Ethics The Director of Program Management – Compliance & Ethics leads enterprise-wide compliance initiatives, mainly overseeing Microsoft’s Data Security Program (DSP). This Project Management Office (PMO) role ensures strategic direction, strong governance, and operational efficiency for regulated projects while collaborating with senior leaders and relevant stakeholders. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or related field AND 8+ years experience in program management, process management, or process improvement OR equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years’ experience as a Business Program Manager, Technical Program Manager, or in a comparable role overseeing complex, company-wide initiatives.
  • Clear history of working at a leadership level, taking on strategic responsibilities, influencing executives, and affecting the business on an enterprise scale.
  • Extensive background supporting programs related to compliance, risk management, audits, or regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving objectives within highly matrixed organizations, even without direct authority.
  • Knowledge of data security, privacy, or other technology compliance programs
  • Understanding of government, national security, or Department of Justice (DOJ) regulatory frameworks
  • Experience working and leading in a centralized PMO
  • Skills in developing automation and AI tools to improve execution and reporting

Responsibilities

  • Assume full responsibility for end-to-end program management of the Data Security Program (DSP), encompassing strategic implementation, operational cadence, risk oversight, and achievement of delivery objectives.
  • Convert regulatory and Compliance & Ethics goals into actionable program initiatives across diverse organizations and global regions.
  • Engage senior leadership and cross-functional teams by leveraging data-driven analysis, robust governance frameworks, and disciplined execution practices.
  • Oversee program management tasks that facilitate audit readiness, regulatory evaluations, and executive attestations.
  • Develop and sustain governance structures, decision-making frameworks, and escalation protocols suitable for highly intricate compliance initiatives.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external consultants to organize assessments, review evidence, track remediation efforts, and ensure timely completion.
  • Establish and manage the program operating model with key milestones, dependencies, risks, and metrics.
  • Provide executive-level reports for leadership insights and decision-making.
  • Identify ways to streamline, automate, or scale compliance operations for ongoing improvement.
  • Coordinate with engineering, security, privacy, legal, procurement, HR, and business teams to ensure compliance.
  • Act as a senior PMO leader in Compliance & Ethics and lead additional complex programs as needed.
