Trapeze Mobility on Demand (MOD) is seeking a strategic and execution-focused Director of Product Management to lead the evolution of our market-leading paratransit platform through a comprehensive product modernization journey, without compromising the strong customer value that distinguishes our solutions to the market. This role owns the product management function end-to-end, including shared accountability for product outcomes that support sustainable growth, customer value, and long-term business success, ensuring alignment between product strategy, customer needs, and commercial priorities. The Director will lead a team of Product Managers responsible for product lines and execution while also acting as a key commercial leader, partnering closely with Sales, Customer Success, and Marketing to drive bookings, retention, and expansion.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in Product Management, with 5+ years leading teams
  • Experience owning a P&L and developing commercial strategy
  • Experience with complex, configurable enterprise systems
  • Strong understanding of Agile / Scrum and SaaS lifecycle
  • Excellent external presentation skills
  • Strong internal communications including verbal and written skills across team and managing upwards
  • Mature teamwork skills for cross-group cooperation
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing product managers, not just products
  • Hands-on experience with the full SDLC, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery methodologies
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices and modern software delivery
  • Experience applying or integrating AI/ML capabilities into software products
  • Proven track record of managing structured customer validation processes
  • Experience directing 3rd party or outsourced development teams as a product owner
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel up to 50% within North America

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the product vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned to MOD’s modernization journey and SaaS transition in concert with MOD’s leadership team
  • Translate market trends, customer insights, and competitive dynamics into a clear, actionable product roadmap
  • Balance innovation and modernization with the realities of an installed base requiring continuity and stability
  • Guide platform evolution toward scalable, sustainable architectures while preserving the capabilities customers rely on
  • Define and drive an AI product strategy - identify where AI can meaningfully improve product outcomes and validate AI use cases directly with customers
  • Partner closely with Engineering to ensure predictable, high-quality delivery
  • Establish and maintain transparent visibility into product cost, effort, and investment across the portfolio (R&D, enhancements, maintenance, and modernization initiatives)
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to align product strategy with pipeline, bookings, and expansion targets
  • Support strategic deals, including pricing, packaging, and executive-level client engagement
  • Ensure product positioning, messaging, and enablement clearly articulate differentiated value
  • Drive product monetization strategy in partnership with cross-function stakeholders
  • Own the full MOD product portfolio scope from discovery through launch, accountable for quality, timeliness, and outcomes
  • Manage vendor relationships and contract adherence with discipline
  • Provide active product oversight and direction to 3rd party development partners, ensuring external teams build to spec, meet quality standards and stay aligned to modernization priorities
  • Continuously assess product health and drive improvements in quality scalability and sustainability
  • Analyze product performance metrics and turn insights into action
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 4-6 including Product Managers, UI/UX designer and technical writers
  • Establish and continuously improve Product Management best practices
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to support market understanding, opportunity sizing and competitive positioning
  • Lead deep customer engagement to uncover unmet needs and run structured customer validation programs using discovery interviews, prototype testing and usage data to ensure product decisions are grounded in customer evidence
  • Conduct competitive analysis to understand buyer criteria and market positioning
  • Track technology and market trends, especially the evolving role of AI in transit operations
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to evangelize and create compelling marketing materials to create clear value propositions and competitive differentiators
  • Be a visible voice for MOD at industry events, conferences, and customer forums
  • Build relationships with transit agency leaders, industry associations, and ecosystem partners
