Director, Product Development

Vaniam Group
1d$90,000 - $105,000Remote

About The Position

As Vaniam Group continues to grow and evolve our service offerings, the Director of Product Development will play a high-impact, cross-functional role for a strategic thinker and doer who can own a portfolio of products from concept to delivery — bridging the worlds of business strategy, client needs, and technical execution. You will serve as the connective tissue between our business leaders and technical and delivery teams — defining vision, driving roadmaps, and making sure the right things get built at the right time. This is an individual contributor role to start, with a clear path to build and lead a team as the function matures.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in product management, product strategy, or a closely related function
  • Demonstrated ability to own and drive a product roadmap from vision through delivery in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
  • Strong background working at the intersection of business strategy and technical delivery — comfortable speaking both languages fluently
  • Experience working with or within healthcare, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or medical communications organizations
  • Proven ability to influence without authority, building alignment across diverse teams and seniority levels
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex concepts clearly to executive audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfort with ambiguity and the ability to create structure where little exists
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively in a dynamic, virtual environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively and professionally at all levels within the organization and with clients
  • Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Results-oriented with a commitment to accountability
  • Excellent problem-solving skills including the ability to analyze information skillfully and develop alternative solutions
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to travel within the US and internationally as necessary, based on project, sponsor, and organizational needs (<10% travel expected).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at an agency, life science/medical device company, or life science consulting firm
  • Familiarity with digital health, patient education platforms, or data-driven publication tools
  • Experience building or contributing to a product management practice from the ground up
  • Exposure to regulatory, compliance, and technical processes necessary to deploy data analytics products within life sciences companies
  • Track record of successfully transitioning from IC to a people management role

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the product vision and roadmap for Vaniam Group’s product portfolio, aligned to business strategy and client needs
  • Build and maintain detailed, prioritized product roadmaps that balance short-term client commitments with long-term product investment
  • Define product requirements, user stories, and success criteria in partnership with business stakeholders and technical leads
  • Drive cross-functional delivery by working closely with technology, creative, scientific, and operations teams to ensure on-time, high-quality releases
  • Monitor product performance post-launch and use data and client feedback to inform iteration and improvement
  • Work with Sales, Client Services, and Leadership to ensure Vaniam Intelligence capabilities are included in SOWs and review proposed elements for alignment with pricing and client value
  • Serve as the primary product liaison between business development, client services, and technical delivery teams
  • Facilitate alignment sessions, roadmap reviews, and product steering conversations with senior leaders and key clients
  • Communicate product status, risks, and decisions clearly and proactively to all stakeholders
  • Establish and continuously refine product development processes, frameworks, and tools that support a growing team
  • Introduce best practices in product management adapted for the unique context of a traditional service-led environment
  • Identify and implement ways to increase speed, quality, and consistency of product delivery
  • Lay the groundwork for scaling the Product Development function, including potential future team building
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and client discovery to identify opportunities for new or evolved products and services
  • Partner with senior leadership to prioritize investments and ensure the product portfolio delivers measurable business value
  • Translate complex, ambiguous business problems into clear product direction and executable plans
