About The Position

Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and oversee all of the Facilities Management Departments, (Engineering, Housekeeping, Laundry, Communications, Security departments). The Director of Facilities Management (or Director of Plant Operations) is responsible for the 24/7 operation, safety, and maintenance of the physical environment for residents and staff. Ensures that the facility remains compliant with strict healthcare-specific regulations while managing budgets, staff, and long-term capital projects. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and / or boards of directors. Deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. Ability to respond decisively during emergencies and resolve complex infrastructure issues under pressure. Proficiency in budget planning, cost-containment strategies, and analyzing financial data. Ensures the facility adheres to all federal, state, and local codes, including CMS, OSHA, NFPA (Life Safety Code), and state Department of Public Health standard. Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating maintenance and environmental services staff.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of facilities operations experience
  • 3–5 years in a management or supervisory role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or Business Administration, or an Associate’s degree with significant experience

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting preferred
  • CHFM (Certified Healthcare Facility Manager)
  • CFM (Certified Facility Manager) or FMP (Facility Management Professional)
  • FEMA ICS (Incident Command System) 100, 200, 700, 800
