About The Position

Piedmont Airlines is seeking a motivated, reliable leader to join their Flight Operations Department as a Director, Operations. The primary responsibility of this role is to administer company policies and procedures, ensuring all flights meet legal requirements and maintain safe and secure operations with the highest regard for safety and quality of service. The successful candidate must hold an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate and have three years of experience within the past six years as pilot in command of a large aircraft under 14 CRF § 121. This position reports to the Vice President, Flight Operations. Requirements

  • Hold an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate
  • Three (3) years of experience, within the past six (6) years, as pilot in command of a large aircraft under 14 CFR § 121
  • Full understanding of the company’s SMS and SeMS (14 CFR § 5)
  • Full understanding of aviation standards and safe operating practices
  • Full knowledge and understanding of all appropriate maintenance and airworthiness requirements from 14 CFR § 1, 25, 65, 91, and 121
  • Clear driving record
  • 10-year Criminal History Records Check
  • Drug screen as required
  • Proof of high school or GED completion
  • Minimum 23 years of age

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years in union work

Responsibilities

  • Direct the overall development and management of the Flight Operation Department, including applicable policies and procedures
  • Coordinate all departments to ensure a smoothly functioning operation
  • Responsible for the dissemination of safety and security critical operational information
  • Actively support the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) and Security Management System (14 CFR § 5)
  • Primary liaison between the company and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Primary Operations Inspector
  • Primary liaison between the company and pilots’ union
  • Ensure flight scheduling, dispatch, and customer service requests are coordained with aircraft maintenance requirements
  • Establish specification and quality standards; in addition, contribute to safety, security, reliability, and economy by developing capable personnel, effective tools, procedures, and by judicious use of personnel and equipment
  • Serve as member of Operations Standards Board
