Alliant is seeking a motivated, strategic, and enthusiastic leader to manage and grow our Water Resources Group. This is an exciting opportunity to lead exceptional people, elevate our practice, and play a key leadership role across the company. As the Director of Water Resources, you will lead an established team of engineers and technical specialists with expertise in hydrology and hydraulics, drainage design, floodplain management, stormwater, and erosion control. You will steer the group’s strategy and marketing – building on our current strengths, expanding services, and growing into new markets and clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or related field
  • 15 or more years of experience in Water Resources Engineering, with expertise in hydrology/hydraulics and stormwater management; prior leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Minnesota (or ability to obtain Minnesota P.E. within 6 months)
  • Proven ability preparing and presenting technical information to varied audiences
  • Experience working with MnDOT design standards and familiarity with local watershed district requirements
  • Experience delivering water resources for transportation projects
  • Proven track record preparing proposals, marketing, and successfully securing projects from varied clients
  • Knowledge of software programs used for drainage design and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and fulfill commitments related to project deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to communicate clearly through written and verbal communication

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for Alliant’s Water Resources Group, setting vision and driving growth across markets and service offerings
  • Manage workload, schedules, and other tasks needed to lead the group through collaboration with project managers across Alliant’s service areas
  • Oversee design and delivery of water resources projects, most notably drainage systems and stormwater management practices for transportation infrastructure projects
  • Identifying future project opportunities and preparing technical proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates
  • Lead business development efforts by identifying opportunities, building client relationships, and preparing winning proposals
  • Communicate with clients and project teams on project logistics and status
  • Manage quality of work and track project budgets and schedules
  • Mentor staff and new hires to broaden their knowledge and professional skills
  • Coordinate Alliant representation and participate in industry conferences within professional organizations
