About The Position

The Director of Technology is a senior, hands-on leader responsible for the strategic direction, operational excellence, and day-to-day management of the company’s technology environment. This role partners closely with executive leadership to ensure technology systems, networks, and vendors effectively support business objectives, operational reliability, security, and scalability. The position is fully in-office and oversees internal systems, third-party service providers, and enterprise technology platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience; aviation industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing enterprise systems, vendors, and service desk operations.
  • Strong understanding of cloud environments, cybersecurity, access management, and network fundamentals.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, subscriptions, and technology costs effectively.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead in a hands-on, in-office environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Technology Strategy & Leadership Develop and execute short- and long-term technology strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Serve as a trusted technology advisor to executive leadership, translating business needs into technical solutions.
  • Establish quarterly initiatives, performance metrics, and operational roadmaps for the IT function.
  • Systems & Applications Management Own and administer core aviation and business systems, including FL3XX, MySky, Avinode, and Tuvoli.
  • Oversee integrations, data flow, system performance, and reliability across platforms.
  • Act as primary liaison with the database development partner PegasusOne, ensuring deliverables, timelines, and quality standards are met.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement system enhancements, upgrades, and new technologies.
  • Network, Infrastructure & Security Oversee office-based network infrastructure, hardware, endpoints, and cloud services.
  • Ensure cybersecurity best practices, access controls, and data protection standards are implemented and maintained.
  • Manage permissions, identity access, and role-based security across systems and the Microsoft cloud environment.
  • Service Desk & End-User Support Manage the service desk function, including escalation, troubleshooting, and resolution of hardware, software, and system issues.
  • Oversee securities and service desk support vendor Agilitec, ensuring service levels, responsiveness, and contract compliance.
  • Maintain equipment inventory, lifecycle management, asset controls, and provisioning/deprovisioning processes.
  • Vendor, Subscription & Cost Management Lead vendor selection, contract negotiation, performance management, and renewals for technology and security providers.
  • Manage software subscriptions, licensing, and technology spend with a focus on cost optimization and value realization.
  • Monitor vendor risk, compliance, and service delivery.
  • Document & Cloud Environment Management Own document management standards and governance within the Microsoft cloud environment.
  • Ensure proper organization, retention, access controls, and collaboration workflows.
  • Operational Excellence Troubleshoot and resolve production and operational issues, including acting as escalation point when critical issues arise.
  • Establish and document IT policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards and applicable regulatory or industry requirements.
