SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITES: The Director of Technical Operations (DTO) serves as a senior operational leader supporting the Chief Engineer in managing and optimizing the performance of a global product development and technical support services. Acting as the primary second-in-command, this role ensures alignment of engineering execution, process discipline, and technical operations across all sites and product lines. This role is ideal for a leader with strong technical insight, operational leadership capability, and deep industry experience. The Director of Technical Operations drives clarity, coordination, and schedule delivery across shared service technical teams, enabling the Chief Engineer to focus on strategy, technical governance, and innovation.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of extensive industry experience in product-focused or engineering-driven Global Emergency Services Supplier environments dealing with OEMs dealers and end users.
  • Strong technical literacy with the ability to actively engage in engineering and product discussions.
  • Proven experience leading large teams in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
  • Fluent in Fire Protection Codes and Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented global environment.
  • Problem solver with excellent technical abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a commitment to company values and ethics.
  • Proven streamlining, value creation, process improvement - process optimization and team building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the operational rhythm of the global shared services technical organization on behalf of the Chief Engineer.
  • Translate the Chief Engineer’s strategic direction into actionable operational plans across teams and sites.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that streamline processes, reduce variation, and improve engineering throughput.
  • Represent the Chief Engineer in operational reviews, working groups, and cross-functional meetings as needed.
  • Work closely with product management to distill actionable product requirements and plans.
  • Oversee technical governance processes including design reviews, product readiness assessments, risk management, and configuration control.
  • Ensure consistent adoption of engineering tools, development systems, documentation standards, and methodologies across global sites.
  • Support technical decision-making with industry experience and practical technical insight.
  • Assist Product Management to monitor engineering progress across the product lifecycle—from concept through validation, release, and manufacturing readiness.
  • Lead escalation management and coordinate cross-functional issue resolution for technical and operational challenges.
  • Partner closely with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, regulatory, product management, and commercial teams to ensure seamless integration of engineering outputs as required to support technical programs.
  • Coordinate handoffs and readiness between development, validation, and production teams.
  • Support portfolio planning, resource allocation, and prioritization activities in partnership with the Chief Engineer and Product Management.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and process excellence within global engineering teams.
  • Support workforce planning, capability development, and succession planning initiatives for engineering functions.
  • Facilitate global communications and support the break down of organizational silos.
