About The Position

A leading acute care hospital in Plantation, Florida is seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services to provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership across a multi-service perioperative platform. This role oversees a high-volume surgical environment and partners closely with executive leadership and physician stakeholders to drive quality outcomes, operational efficiency, staff engagement, and service line growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of Director-level Surgical Services experience in an acute care hospital
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Proven leadership experience across multi-department perioperative services
  • Strong background in operational leadership, physician collaboration, and financial management

  • Experience in high-acuity or high-volume surgical environments
  • Prior oversight of multiple surgical specialties and complex service lines

Responsibilities

  • Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered surgical care across all perioperative services
  • Lead evidence-based practice initiatives to improve clinical outcomes, patient safety, and regulatory compliance
  • Standardize clinical practice and reduce variation to enhance efficiency, throughput, and cost control
  • Oversee patient flow, case volume forecasting, block utilization, and perioperative throughput
  • Direct nursing practice, policies, procedures, and operational standards across surgical services
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and professional excellence
  • Lead recruitment, development, performance management, and retention strategies
  • Coach and mentor management staff; identify training and succession planning needs
  • Ensure appropriate staffing models aligned with volume, acuity, and productivity benchmarks
  • Partner with physicians and administrative leadership to expand existing service lines and develop new programs
  • Identify opportunities for procedural growth, technology adoption, and operational differentiation
  • Support market competitiveness through service optimization and physician engagement
  • Lead annual operating and capital budget planning for surgical services
  • Monitor financial performance, labor productivity, premium pay utilization, and supply expense
  • Implement corrective action plans to address budget variances and performance gaps
