OpenEye is seeking a Director of Sales Engineering to join our growing team. The Director of Sales Engineering will lead and develop a high-performing global Sales Engineering team that supports channel partners in their technical pre-sales activities, facilitates impactful training, and accelerates the adoption of OpenEye’s cloud video management software (VMS) solutions. This is a dual-focus role requiring strong leadership in sales-oriented actions and technical expertise to ensure our team remains respected advisors to partners and customers alike. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader who thrives on empowering a technical sales team, driving measurable sales outcomes, and bridging the gap between complex technology and practical business value. Success in This Role Will Mean: Sales Engineers are seen as critical accelerators of pipeline and as trusted technical advisors to partners. Channel partners are trained, confident, and able to win deals with OpenEye’s solutions. The Director maintains deep technical credibility while building a sales-minded team culture that consistently drives revenue impact.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in technical sales, presales engineering, or related roles, with at least 3–5 years in leadership positions.
  • Proven experience in leading global or distributed technical sales teams.
  • Strong understanding of video surveillance technology, SaaS models, and/or cloud-based enterprise solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver complex technical concepts in clear business terms.
  • Track record of driving measurable sales results through technical team leadership.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Sales Engineering team to achieve sales-oriented goals while maintaining technical credibility with partners and customers.
  • Set clear performance metrics and sales-impact objectives for the team, aligned with the company’s revenue targets and channel strategy.
  • Foster a results-driven culture that emphasizes proactive engagement, responsiveness, and strategic partner support.
  • Oversee the delivery of formal and informal technical training to channel partners, ensuring they can confidently position and deploy OpenEye’s cloud VMS solutions.
  • Establish partner certification programs and technical competency benchmarks.
  • Create and manage tools, documentation, and resources to support partner presales efforts.
  • Act as a key strategic advisor to partners and end users, ensuring OpenEye’s technical capabilities are effectively communicated in business terms.
  • Collaborate with the Sales leadership team to develop pre-sales strategies that drive product adoption and revenue growth.
  • Maintain up-to-date expertise on OpenEye’s products, competitive landscape, and emerging security technologies to guide the team and partners.
  • Partner closely with Product Management, Marketing, and Customer Success to ensure technical feedback from the field informs product development and marketing assets.
  • Assist Sales teams with complex deal structuring, proof-of-concept planning, and solution architecture guidance.
  • Track and analyze presales activities and training engagement to demonstrate direct impact on sales pipeline and partner success.
  • Present regular performance and impact reports to the VP of Global Sales and company leadership.
