About The Position

The Director of Route Setting oversees all Sender One locations and embodies Sender One’s core values. The Director of Route Setting ensures the Head Route Setters lead their locations based on Sender One’s standards and policies.

  • Lead the pitch by attaining relevant professional certifications, ex. CWA WAH L3 and USAC L4/5
  • Proven leadership ability in an educational, fitness or professional setting
  • Experience recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training employees
  • Critical and strategic thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of Google Suite – Gmail, Sheets, Docs, Drive, etc.
  • Knowledge of business-support apps Rock Gym Pro, Basecamp, Paycom, and When I Work
  • Experience coaching and instructing
  • Top rope & lead belay experience
  • Must be able to work 40-50 hours per work week (Sun - Sat)
  • Must be fully available to work weekends when needed for special events, training, etc. (Sat & Sun)
  • Must be able to attend the Weekly Strategy other relevant meetings
  • Must be able to attend the Mandatory All Staff Quarterly meeting (Sunday).

Nice To Haves

  • USAC Level 3+ preferred
  • CWA Work At Height L2+ preferred (or current equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Expert on all the responsibilities of a Head Route Setter
  • Build and sustain a staff and community culture that aligns with Sender One’s core values, and purpose - to Discover Ourselves and Connect with Others.
  • Recruit and hire top-notch setting talent who embody Sender One's core values
  • Maintain a monthly setting schedule that puts the right people in the right positions to succeed
  • Check-in with staff weekly to get their feedback on the program, work experience, and their management
  • Check-in with gym managers monthly to see the setting department and the company from their perspective
  • Lead regular Route Setting Operations meetings to solicit feedback from the team, roll out new provisions that affect setting operations, and hold head setters accountable to company and department goals
  • Function as USAC Chief Setter during events that require advanced and committed oversight of setting operations. Coordinate with fellow managers to create successful USAC events
  • Create and coordinate new events to Discover and Connect with the community in new and engaging ways
  • Conscientiously tailor and maintain route setting brand continuity between locations through movement and aesthetic critiques during Route Setter Metrics evaluations and regular team discussions
  • Administer CWA Work-At-Height best practices
  • Learn From Your Projects by adjusting standards as new information becomes available and holding staff accountable to current standards.
  • Receive monthly executive coaching to continue professional development as a senior, management employee
  • Attend Operations team meetings monthly, or as needed, to gain and share understanding of gym processes.
