One of the most beloved resorts in New England, The Woodstock Inn & Resort, is seeking a Director of Rooms to join the team. Job Summary:  The Director of Rooms will supervise all rooms departments and ensure standards of operation are maintained and are working in harmony. The Director of Rooms is visible in all areas of the Inn related to their respective responsibilities and assures that the Guest Experience, from arrival to departure is exceptional in nature and each team member is trained and working to exceed guest expectations at every touch point/encounter as it pertains to these specific job functions. The Director of Rooms has oversight and works closely with the Director of Guest Services in the management of all rooms division operations including front desk, bell services, concierge, public space cleaning, gift shop and reservations with a heavy focus on housekeeping operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management, Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in roles spanning general management in hospitality with well-regarded hotels and resorts preferred.
  • Ability to prepare, understand, present, and analyze business strategies.
  • Ability to develop policies and procedures that are effective and clear.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the company policies, procedures, systems, and objectives.
  • Thorough understanding of fiscal and human resource management techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of compliance requirements and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to produce sales and implement marketing strategies.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and discretion.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, SMS Host or related software.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure service and product standards are maintained with a primary focus on guest satisfaction
  • In conjunction with the Director of Guest Services, motivate, train and develop personnel in the Rooms Division.
  • Formulate policies for the Rooms Division.
  • Devise and implement programs to increase customer quality and service.
  • Supervise and monitor all guest service recovery efforts and respond appropriately to trends.
  • Review and respond to guest feedback on our internal system, Medallia, Tripadvisor and similar platforms.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with managers, employees and other departments.
  • Maintain effective staffing and cost controls in all areas of the Rooms Division.
  • Facilitate the cooperative interface of the rooms division with all other resort departments including property maintenance, marketing, sales, F&B, recreational activities.
  • Conduct walk-throughs of public areas and guestrooms to ensure that cleanliness and maintenance standards are met.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of local Woodstock and regional activities and services, maintaining positive and active relations with key local providers (i.e., florists, limousine and taxi services, restaurant contacts, hair and spa services, babysitters, etc.)
  • Familiarity with mobile technology platforms and their role in guest experience.
  • Maintain up-to-date safety and evacuation plans
  • Create a flexible work force who can perform multiple roles to make sure there is sufficient staff to guarantee the satisfaction of the guests across assigned departments.
  • Ensure communication of daily events, occupancy level, VIPs, group functions, etc. with each department employee as needed.
  • Monitor all V.I.P.'s, special guests and requests.
  • Ensure excellence in appearance of all areas throughout the hotel
  • Produce constant improvement in guest experience satisfaction metrics
  • Participation in weekly forecasting and scheduling activities
  • Providing assistance in developing the annual rooms budget
  • Preparation of action plans as directed by management
  • Maintaining high visibility with associates and guests
  • Other duties as assigned.
