About The Position

The Director of Residential Services is a Senior Management role responsible for overseeing the organization’s residential programs, ensuring they operate effectively, safely, and in alignment with evidence-based practices. This position provides strategic direction, supervises program managers, manages budgets, and fosters collaborative relationships with community partners and stakeholders. The Director also serves as the organization’s PREA Coordinator, upholds regulatory and accreditation standards, and leads efforts to enhance program quality and client outcomes. Additionally, the role requires a strong commitment to ethical leadership, staff development, and crisis management to support the organization’s mission of delivering high-quality, trauma-informed residential services.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field (State of Connecticut license or license eligible) – Required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing residential programs – Required
  • Experience in program administration and fiscal management – Required
  • On-call availability and the ability to respond in person when special incidents occur – Required
  • Ability to formulate positive collaborative relationships with the community, funding sources, governmental relations and our client base – Required
  • Valid Driver License to utilize a company provided vehicle to travel to various office locations – Required
  • Excellent communication skills – Required

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of residential programs throughout the organization
  • Assumes the role of PREA Coordinator for the organization
  • Responsible for recruitment and retention of qualified and committed staff and fostering a culture of accountability, coaching, and professional growth
  • Coordinates all Program Quality Assurance measures and staff training activities in conjunction with the Director of PQI
  • Develop and implement program strategies that enhance program outcomes for youth and families
  • Ensure alignment with evidence based and trauma informed practices as expected per program contract
  • Ensures, CSSD monitoring and COA accreditation requirements are maintained
  • Collaborate with finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation as well as monitor program expenses to ensure fiscal responsibility
  • Carries out necessary hiring protocols, discipline and termination of staff with the Director of Human Resources
  • Support managers in addressing staff performance concerns and setting clear expectations and development plans for improvement
  • Represents CJR in public forums and participates on CJR committees or special projects that promote the organization
  • Build strong relationships with external partners, agencies, and community stakeholders
  • Works with Program Committee of CJR’s Board of Directors
  • Is available 24/7 to handle organizational and programmatic needs
  • Provide leadership in crisis situations, ensuring appropriate notifications, responses, and documentation are facilitated
  • Work with all members of senior leadership to ensure successful communication and coordination between all programs and participate in strategic planning
