Requirements

An advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a relevant field.
Varying levels of education and experience may be acceptable to the hiring authority.
Proven leadership in research administration, innovation strategy, or economic development.
A strong track record of securing and managing research funding.
Deep understanding of commercialization, public-private partnerships, and workforce development.
Exceptional communication, collaboration, and strategic planning skills.

Responsibilities

Serve as a strategic advisor and collaborator with the Board of Regents, the Research Affairs Council (RAC), the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED), and key stakeholders across government, academia, and industry.
Lead initiatives that grow South Dakota's research enterprise, support innovation ecosystems, and translate academic research into real-world economic outcomes.
Promote the development of new companies and workforce opportunities through commercialization and entrepreneurship.
