The Associate Vice President (AVP) for the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) at California State University, Long Beach, is a leadership position responsible for providing strategic vision, oversight, and management of the University's research mission. Reporting directly to the Provost, the AVP plays a crucial role in shaping the research agenda, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and driving initiatives that contribute to regional and national research priorities. Those reporting to and working with the AVP include the Senior Director of Sponsored Programs, the Director of Research Integrity and Compliance, the Director of the Office of Undergraduate Research Services, and Director of Innovation and Economic Development. The AVP should have a deep understanding of the complexity of the research enterprise, with a commitment to support all types of research, scholarly and creative activities across the campus and provide equitable and just access to research opportunities in the physical sciences, social sciences, health sciences, arts and humanities. An appreciation for the value of advancing the University’s research mission through innovation, interdisciplinarity, and different perspectives, approaches and methods is also important.
