JOB PURPOSE Responsible for the preparation of NRHN's operating and capital budgets in accordance with timetables established by hospital management. Responsible for monitoring the monthly performance to budget, analyzing budget variances and preparing variances reports for the Chief Financial Officer. Responds to inquiries and requests related to budget and budget process from various sources including department managers and senior management. Meets informational needs of hospital management within scope of responsibility. Responsible for preparing special finance related projects in a variety of areas. Performs other duties and tasks assigned by the CFO.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospital/Health Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Planning, Statistics, Health Information Management, Health Informatics, Statistics, Actuary Science or other related field required.
  • Three to five years of finance, general accounting or budget experience preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong skills in data management systems and extensive spreadsheet, database and presentation graphics knowledge required. Working knowledge of relational database management, MS Excel and Access are required. Experience with hospital information systems preferably with Meditech.
  • Familiarity with hospital coding systems, including ICD-9-CM, CPT, DRG, APRDRG, CMG as well as experience using medical terminology.
  • Analytical skills to assemble, evaluate and understand large and complex information and studies, and to identify current and future trends.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills to effectively interact with outside vendors, administrators, medical staff and employees at all levels.
  • Physical ability to tolerate a high percentage of time in sedentary work at a desk.
