About The Position

Responsible for managing, planning, and overseeing the Life Enrichment department to assure that on-going program of therapeutic activities meet the psych-social needs of residents. Programs will be designed by resident choice to increase independent function in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, and the policies and procedures of Saint Joseph Villa.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required in Recreation Therapy or health related field with CTRS or eligibility to become CTRS certified.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Activities Director preferred and/or with relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated strong multi-tasking and organization skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Moderate physical effort
  • Balance of sedentary/mobility work
  • Frequent kneeling/stooping/reaching/bending.
  • Good communication skills
  • Competent with computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree preferred.
  • Memory Care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, organize, and implement the Life Enrichment Program.
  • Plan and implement all large programs for the facility.
  • Set realistic goals for programs to assure efficiency and to meet residents’ needs.
  • Will assure that a representative from Life Enrichment attend resident care conferences as needed.
  • Audit PCC to ensure proper Life Enrichment documentation and care plans are maintained in the chart.
  • Manages Life Enrichment partners in mission for both the SNF and Convent.
  • Hold routine Partner in Mission meetings and include them in calendar planning.
  • Maintain team-oriented atmosphere by coordinating projects and planning.
  • Collaborates with other departments in calendars events and functions.
  • Mentor partners in mission within the Life Enrichment department.
  • May need to participate in general new employee orientation.
  • Keep current with federal, state and local requirements.
  • Arrange departmental schedules to provide weekend and evening programs.
  • Plan and/or participate in departmental and interdepartmental in-service training.
  • Plan and oversee the department operation and capital budget.
  • Serves on the Memory Care committee and Employee Engagement committee.
  • Responsible for campus social media page.
  • Participate in committees as requested by supervisor.
  • Write and update departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensures communication for programs is provided to residents and Partners in Mission who are involved.
  • Networks with community resources to be informed of outside events and functions.
  • Include intergenerational and pet therapy in regular programming.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, as needed.
  • Complete annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibit behavior as set forth by the Code of Compliance in the performance of their duties.
  • Adheres to the Organizations Policies and Procedures regarding the Compliance Program of the organization and is timely in reporting any possible concerns.
  • Follows all local, state and federal regulations as they pertain to their position.
  • Adhere to the Organization’s Policies and Procedures covering Privacy and Security in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
