Director of Quality Improvement Department of Radiation Oncology Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Inc. Harvard Medical School The Department of Radiation Oncology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston is actively seeking full-time Radiation Oncology faculty members with expertise in their selected disease site subspecialty to serve as the Director of Quality Improvement. As a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, BIDMC and the Department of Radiation Oncology, provide a clinically advanced and supportive academic environment for residents, fellows, and faculty. We’re also proud and excited to be an integral part of the landmark collaboration among Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) to establish New England’s only freestanding adult inpatient cancer hospital. The collaboration will provide unparalleled opportunities for radiation oncology and other physician specialties to be part of DFCI’s internationally recognized cancer team. As Director of Quality Improvement, this individual will provide strategic and operational physician leadership for quality, safety, and performance improvement across the Department of Radiation Oncology. Working closely with the Director of Quality and Safety, they will oversee departmental quality and safety committees, incident learning, and peer review processes, ensuring timely evaluation, root cause analysis, and follow-up. The Director will guide department-wide quality initiatives, monitor clinical performance metrics, and implement evidence-based, high-reliability practices to enhance patient care and safety. They will identify and mitigate risks, promote interdisciplinary communication and a culture of transparency and continuous learning, and engage faculty, trainees, and staff in quality improvement education. In addition, the Director will lead and support research and scholarly work related to quality and safety, advancing innovation and disseminating best practices both within the department and the broader professional community. Responsibilities will include clinical care with a focus on their selected disease site subspecialty in radiation oncology, teaching and research activity at the Main Campus in Boston as appropriate with an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to be determined based on experience and qualifications. This role is an employment model position in Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Following regulatory approval, successful candidates will also provide clinical care at DFCI.
