About The Position

Glenwood is the leading provider of autism and behavioral health support and services in the State of Alabama. Our Adult Residential Services Program caters to adults with autism in our residential locations. An important aspect of the services provided by Glenwood includes ensuring that the adult individuals we serve are given the opportunity to live full and rewarding lives. Glenwood provides individuals receiving home and community-based services choices, rights, and opportunities by following the guidelines for the HCBS Settings Rule. The Director oversees this function. This position reports to the Senior Director of Program Operations, Adult Residential Services. The ideal candidate will demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all individuals served, families, and staff members. The Director will supervise and oversee all assigned Adult Residential programs with a focus on the direct care staff who provide for the daily needs of our adult individuals. They will play a key role in recruiting, selecting, developing the skills of, and on-going supervision of the program coordinators and direct care staff within the division. They will collaborate effectively within adult services and other departments to deliver optimal service and will also assess the operation and needs of the programs to provide both clinical and administrative quality assurance consistent with the agency’s policies, standards, and philosophy of services. In collaboration with the SVP and leadership team, this role will provide input into, and manage the division’s annual budget, planning for the proper use of physical and financial assets assigned to the division.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human services or an otherwise applicable field is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with administrative and supervisory duties.
  • Two years of experience directly related to the essential functions of the job, and beyond the minimum experience requirement, can substitute for every one year of required education.
  • Must be able to complete required background checks and required training.
  • Comprehensive knowledge about Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HCBS
  • Coaching and mentoring skills in growing teams and services
  • Ability to analyze and make decisions based on key facts
  • Creative and innovative thinking
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; use of computer systems
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced environment
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail (Interpersonal, time management, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well within teams are essential)
  • Business Acumen with knowledge of reading and interpreting financial reports

  • Prior experience working with the ID/DD population is preferred.
