Director of Product

AirPro Diagnostics/Nationwide PartsJacksonville, FL
Hybrid

About The Position

AirPro Diagnostics is a technology-driven remote automotive diagnostics company headquartered in Jacksonville, FL. We serve collision and mechanical repair facilities across North America and internationally, providing remote diagnostic scanning, ADAS calibration, and vehicle reprogramming services through our proprietary ORION cloud platform and hardware devices. AirPro is in an active growth phase with expanding product lines, strategic partnerships, and international operations. We are seeking a Director of Product with automotive industry experience to own both the product strategy and day-to-day product management across AirPro’s full portfolio: the ORION cloud platform, AirPro diagnostic scan tool, and Auggie ADAS Target Rendering device. This is a hands-on leadership role — you will set the product vision and portfolio strategy while also owning the roadmaps, writing requirements, prioritizing the backlog, and working directly with engineering to ship. This role combines strategic product leadership with individual contributor execution. You will define how the product lines work together as a cohesive portfolio, make trade-off decisions across competing stakeholder priorities, and drive features from concept through delivery alongside engineering, project management, and business analysts. The Director partners with the CTO, COO, CRO, CEO, and engineering leads to drive AirPro’s competitive position and growth. This is not a typical Director of Product role at a SaaS company. The Director of Product at AirPro will lead strategy across a uniquely complex product portfolio: Hardware + Software + Cloud Portfolio: You’ll own the strategy for a portfolio that includes physical diagnostic devices, ADAS calibration hardware, embedded firmware, a full cloud platform, and the integrations connecting them. Few product leadership roles span all three domains. Complex Regulatory & IP Landscape: OEM diagnostic licensing, active patent prosecution, and international licensing agreements are all part of the strategic context. You’ll collaborate with legal counsel and the CTO to make IP-informed product decisions at the portfolio level. Revenue-Driving Partnerships: Insurance partners, glass companies, OEM programs, and international licensees are core to the business model. Your product strategy directly shapes partner retention, revenue growth, and market expansion. Real-World Safety Impact: The vehicles repaired using AirPro’s products go back on the road. ADAS calibration accuracy, diagnostic completeness, and system reliability have direct safety implications. Product decisions carry weight beyond revenue metrics. Strategy and Execution in One Seat: You own both the portfolio strategy and the day-to-day product management. You’ll set the vision, write the requirements, prioritize the backlog, and work directly with engineers to ship. As the organization grows, you’ll build the product team around you.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the automotive industry, specifically in one or more of the following: collision repair, automotive diagnostics, ADAS/calibration, scan tool technology, telematics, or automotive aftermarket technology
  • Deep understanding of the collision repair ecosystem, including insurer-shop relationships, DRP programs, OEM certification requirements, and the role of diagnostics and ADAS calibration in the repair workflow
  • Familiarity with OEM diagnostic ecosystems, scan tool platforms, and how independent repair facilities interact with manufacturer-controlled software and data
  • Working knowledge of industry trends including the growth of ADAS-equipped vehicles, evolving OEM position statements, and the increasing complexity of post-repair calibration requirements
  • 8+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years in a director or senior leadership role managing other product managers
  • Demonstrated experience setting product vision and portfolio strategy across multiple product lines, not just managing a single product roadmap
  • Experience managing products that span both software platforms and physical hardware, including coordinating hardware manufacturing and software release cycles
  • B2B or B2B2C product leadership experience, ideally in a model serving both end users (technicians, shops) and enterprise partners (insurers, OEMs, MSOs)
  • Track record of building, scaling, or significantly improving a product management function, including hiring, process development, and team mentorship
  • Experience working in a PE-backed, venture-backed, or growth-stage environment where speed, capital efficiency, and investor communication are expected
  • Ability to translate business-level objectives into product strategy and portfolio prioritization decisions
  • Experience with pricing strategy, competitive positioning, and go-to-market planning
  • Comfort with technical complexity: APIs, system integrations, device firmware, cloud platform architecture — enough to engage credibly with engineering leadership
  • Experience using product analytics, market data, and customer insights to drive strategic decisions
  • Strong executive communication skills, including board-level and partner-facing presentations

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience with J2534 PassThru protocol, OEM reprogramming tools, or SAE standards
  • Familiarity with ADAS calibration systems, sensor technologies (cameras, radar, LiDAR), and calibration target/fixture design
  • Experience with CIECA (Collision Industry Electronic Commerce Association) standards or CCC/Mitchell/Audatex integrations
  • Background in international product rollouts including localization, regulatory adaptation, and licensing structures across multiple markets
  • Patent or intellectual property portfolio involvement, including experience aligning product strategy with IP protection
  • M&A experience, particularly product integration planning for acquired technologies or companies
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, business, or a related field; MBA or equivalent experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Set and communicate the overall product vision and strategy across ORION, AirPro scan tool, and Auggie/Auggie AIR, ensuring the product lines work together as a unified portfolio
  • Translate business objectives from executive leadership into actionable product priorities and a portfolio-level roadmap
  • Own cross-cutting strategic decisions including pricing strategy, competitive positioning, market segmentation, and go-to-market timing
  • Evaluate build-versus-buy and partnership-versus-build decisions at the portfolio level
  • Drive product strategy for international expansion, adapting the portfolio for regulatory, localization, and licensing requirements across markets (Australia, Canada, UK)
  • Identify and assess M&A product integration opportunities, defining how acquired products or capabilities fit into AirPro’s portfolio
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog across all product lines, making day-to-day trade-off decisions based on customer feedback, partner requirements, and business objectives
  • Define product requirements and success criteria in collaboration with engineering, business analysts, and stakeholders
  • Work directly with engineering teams throughout the development cycle, from concept and design through implementation, testing, and release
  • Serve as the primary product management resource across all product lines, operating as both the strategic leader and the hands-on executor, while managing the Project Manager and IT Business Analyst(s) as direct reports
  • Establish product management practices, planning cadences, and processes that align with engineering, project management, and business analysis teams
  • Build and scale the product team over time as the organization grows, including hiring, onboarding, and mentoring future product managers
  • Ensure consistency in requirements quality, stakeholder communication, and product delivery across all product lines
  • Serve as the senior product leader with deep understanding of the automotive diagnostics, ADAS calibration, and collision repair ecosystem
  • Drive competitive intelligence and market analysis, tracking OEM factory tools, third-party scan tool vendors, and emerging ADAS calibration competitors
  • Inform product strategy with knowledge of OEM diagnostic licensing frameworks, J2534 PassThru standards, and industry regulatory trends
  • Represent AirPro’s product perspective in industry forums, standards bodies (CIECA), and partner discussions
  • Own the strategic relationship layer with key partners including insurance and glass companies, OEM programs, and international licensees
  • Lead pricing strategy development and execution across product lines and customer segments
  • Collaborate with the CTO on patent and IP strategy, ensuring the product roadmap reinforces and leverages AirPro’s intellectual property portfolio
  • Present product strategy, roadmap, and performance to executive leadership, board members, and key partners independently
  • Align the product function with the project management team to ensure stable priorities, clear handoffs, and effective delivery planning
  • Work with the business analyst function to set requirements quality standards and ensure BA work is directed by product strategy
  • Partner with the CTO and engineering leadership on technology architecture decisions, platform strategy, and technical debt prioritization
  • Leverage ORION platform data, diagnostic usage analytics, and market intelligence to inform portfolio-level decisions and identify growth opportunities

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience
  • Benefits package including health, dental, vision, and 401(k)
  • Opportunity to build and lead the product function at a market leader in automotive remote diagnostics
