About The Position

The Director of Purchasing and Support Services, under general direction, oversees purchases and directs the operations, management, and development of economical purchasing methods and procedures. Ensures programs and operations comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ten years of related experience.
  • Three years of related supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and disseminates work duties pertaining to purchasing, contract and property management, support services, and receiving.
  • Develops and maintains purchasing manuals, delegates purchasing authority to buying staff, and establishes, maintains, and disseminates policies and procedures to other units.
  • Reviews and approves institutional procurements for materials and services.
  • Obtains competitive bids and award contracts by preparing, obtaining, evaluating, and awarding bid requests, offers, and proposals.
  • Writes specifications for supplies and services.
  • Monitors vendor performances, documents unsatisfactory performances, and maintains a list of banned vendors.
  • Advises departments of developing material and service requirements and conducts training on the automated purchasing program.
  • Prepares department invoices for materials and supplies ordered or consumed.
